I'll try again with this fixture.
The euphoria of the Worksop victory was dampened somewhat with a quick return to earth via the long trip to cup chasing Gainsborough Trinity. A 3-0 defeat condemned Reds to a 7th away defeat. Not the best record to take to a team chasing their first home win for the season. Then add the midweek defeat in CCC at home to Whitehaven. For the third time this campaign, we visit a team still searching for their first home league won in FCUM. The other two were consecutive and didn't end well. They were 10 Sept at Blyth and 14 Sept at Matlock. Maybe 3rd time lucky?
FCUM are 21st with 14 points from 15 games
Reds are 15th with 18 points from 16 games
FCUM at home 0-2-5
Reds away 1-0-7
Recent FCUM results:
9 Nov Leek Town 1-2 FCUM
2 Nov Hebburn 1-1 FCUM
26 Oct Worksop 2-0 FCUM (FAT1R)
19 Oct Bamber Bridge 4-0 FCUM
15 Oct FCUM 5-0 Prague Raptors (friendly)
8 Oct FCUM 1-4 Curzon Ashton (Manchester Premier Cup)
5 Oct Hebburn 0-3 FCUM (FAT3QR)
28 Sept Hyde 2-3 FCUM
21 Sept FCUM 1-1 Matlock
17 Sept FCUM 1-2 Macclesfield
10 Sept Rylands 1-1 FCUM
7 Sept FCUM 0-1 Basford
3 Sept Hyde 1-0 FCUM (FAC1QRr)
FCUM overall since 1 Sept 4-3-6
Reds overall since 1 Sept 5-2-8
FCUM are the only team in the league without a home win this season. They also have the worst home record, collecting only 2 points. Reds have the worst away record in the league.
FCUM hadn't won a competitive fixture since 5 Oct at Hebburn, and hadn't won a league game since the victory at Hyde on 28 Sept.....until they won at Leek in their last fixture before hosting Reds.
Reds meanwhile are collecting a list of unwanted stats:
Worst away record in the league
4th worst goal difference
3rd worst defence
5th worst attack
I thought 18 points at this stage of the season wasn't too bad last week, but with results from 9 Nov, we are now only 1 point clear of a relegation place. In fact there are only 3 points now separating 12th (19 points) to 20th (16 points).
Surely we cannot gift another team their first home win of the season?
Come on you Reds
