Harrogate promoted to the football league - it only seems like 5 minutes since we were in the same league!
I'm sure DG will have us raring to go come next month, but Harrogate and Barra getting to the football league should serve as motivation for us as a club

Totally agree with you it should prove that anything is achievable with the right attitude and a modern thinking board and manager which is what we have at present. We need to keep Danny at this club for the long term and let his plans and structures develop. Well done Harrogate and I am really happy for them as it was always one of my favourite away trips.

Agree with all of that. But one thing is missing, if Harrogate are being compared with. Mr Weaver senior (chairman) is a construction magnate worth over £150m, which has helped fund the climb through the leagues and the required stadium redevelopments, which are a far cry from the sloping pitch and perimeter standing when i last saw Reds play there. There will soon be a nearly new 3G artificial pitch on eBay....

It's took Simon Weaver 11 years as manager of Harrogate to get them into the football league and 106 years as a club. It is not easy.

In the 60's we could get 6 or 7 thousand for a league game at times and over 10 k for a big cup game. Those days are long gone and will never come back. Our goal has to be to get back up to the national north where we were about 6 years ago. unless a multi millionaire takes over!

Congratulations to Barrow and Harrogate on their promotions.
Amazing that 2013/2014, Reds, Barrow and Harrogate were all in the same league. It was Conference North. It could be said that the season was the turning point for differing fortunes. Barrow had been down at the bottom but managed to get out of trouble. Edmo of course moved from Reds to Barrow.
The table finished after 42 games with:
9th Harrogate 63 points (including a 3 point deduction) 11th Barrow 56 points 22nd Reds 28 points
Histon and Oxford City occupied the other two relegation positions.
AFC Telford were the champions.
Play off final Altrincham 2-1 Guiseley
Following our relegation, the 2014/2015 season saw Reds finish 2nd in Northern Premier League. We were 2 points short of FCUM who won the title. We played Ilkeston at home in the play off semi and lost 0-1. They in turn lost the final to Curzon Ashton 1-0.
2015/2016 we finished 5th in Northern Premier. We went to Blyth Spartans for the play off semi. Blyth 3-4 Reds. The final was at Salford City where we were winning at half time, but lost 3-2.
Here we are 7 years after this story began. Harrogate, Barrow and Salford are all now in the Football League. Reds are four promotions away from achieving the same status. Come on you Reds.
