Our league season is up and running. Seems like a point gained, rather than two dropped having to come from behind to get the draw at Pickering.
Back to FAC already with this 1QR trip to Radcliffe. I would suggest a Tuesday night with a result being assured may feel more like a replay. It is what it is and no doubt both teams will be looking to advance to the next round.
Radcliffe play their football one level above Reds in the NPL. When their season ended prematurely, Radcliffe were 16th of 22 having taken 38pts from 32 matches. They were 7 points clear of a relegation position but had to failed to register a win in any of their previous 5 games.
Reds as we know all too well, finished top of the league ready to be promoted before the season was curtailed.
Radcliffe have been exempt from FAC so far so this is their first fixture of the campaign.
Radcliffe have played three friendlies and one match of their new league season so far: 19 Sept NPL Buxton 4-2 Radcliffe
Friendlies 12 Sept Radcliffe 3-1 Chorley 5 Sept Ossett Utd 3-0 Radcliffe 29 Aug Radcliffe 3-1 Chester
The winners receive £2250 and a place in FAC2QR, losers £750. This will be a tough trip, but hoping to pick up a win and maybe even a home draw in the next round. Come on you Reds.

Entertaining game. Reds were excellent we just ran out of steam really towards the end. Sam Smith sending off condemned us to defeat, not only were we a man down but we also had to sacrifice Symington who was our biggest threat. Radcliffe scored 3 from set pieces and 2 screamers
Cant really blame the striker swap imo we barely got the ball to Bowman and Potts when they came on and they didnt do much wrong, we just were too deep and giving fouls away.
Biggest injustice was not being awarded a stonewall penalty in first half, Allison brought down clean through.

Yeah tough to take, we were much better team for 70 mins created loads of chances then all went wrong. Radcliffe were decent and had strength up front which we struggled with all night and their first 3 goals all from set pieces. Even at 3-3 we still looked like we'd score again but Sam sending off and Connor looking like pulled his hamstring with no subs left had us hanging on with just 9 1/2 players. Couple of cracking strikes by them tbf in injury time gave them an unlikely win

First 70 minutes we were absolute quality Radcliffe were direct, big and strong but Symington hitting the post nearly made us 4 -1 and that would have been it Agree with Ash about the penalty as well
But if we can play like this we will succeed in our league

Cruel game this football. Thanks for the various independent assessments of the game much appreciated.
Sounds like the injury/missing list may be problematic with games coming up thick and fast

Forgot to mention the handball for their first as well, spotted it at the time. Would have been ruled out in premier league that.

Small margins indeed! Hitting the post at 3 - 1 eventually proved to be the killer. They had three very good goals, the free kick was an absolute belter. I missed their handball for the first goal, it seems obvious watching it back though.
Still I'll take any football at the moment even a loss.

Radcliffe been drawn away to Farsley Celtic of National League North in FAC2QR. Tough draw for them, and would have been just as tough for us.
