In 1999 when Reds were in the North West Trains League and were challenging towards the top of the tatble on 50 points, the manager at the time Peter Hampton gave the team a challenge to win the last 14 matches and they would win the league. They did and went top for the first time that season on the final day, with 92 points. The present team have 50 points with 14 matches still to play. Can they emulate the team of 21 years ago and win those matches and finish the season also on 92 points. I hope so, they are quite capable.
That has the Reds winning all six remaining home games, winning only 1, drawing 4 and losing two away games. Our next two away games are Droylsden & Kendal, I would expect two victories there. Tadcaster & Marine are the difficult away fixtures.
