As far as I'm aware, the required paperwork has been submitted to the FA wrt the new directors but it can take up to three weeks for FA ratification. Consequently, at the moment we have three active directors until the approval comes through. Thanks for clarification Paul. As I suspected, in an ideal world the checks would be completed first before any announcement. Imagine the embarrassment should anyone not satisfy the FA 'Fit and Proper' check process?

If the paperwork has been submitted but the proposed Director's are unable to take up post until the FA has given the required approval, then it makes even more unusual for the previous Chair and Deputy Chair to leave the Board so immediately. Has the 6th person been identified? If so, why are the Club not sharing his/her details. This wouldn't seem unreasonable given that the current 3 Board members lost no time in releasing the names of the 5 new Directors; some might say prematurely given that as yet they haven't been given the necessary approval from the FA.

I think we need to give them all a break. Initially loads of us were complaining that no names had been released, no statement given. Now we are short one person we are saying that the first five were announced prematurely. I reckon everyone is doing their best and we should trust them to do everything by the book and as quickly as possible.

This isn't a case of 'having a go' or being critical of anyone - certainly not the new Board. It is not unreasonable, however, to expect that as supporters we are kept informed about the issues that affect our Club. The appointment of the next Chairman and the additional Director's is potentially a pivotal moment for the Reds in that they will determine the outcome of a number key issues. The decision about the new stadium and maintaining the current one being two obvious examples. A long and protracted delay in appointing the new Board will not help to establish the stability, confidence and direction that the Club urgently needs if we are to enjoy the same sort of success with the good governance of the Club as we are currently enjoying with the team performance.

I'm with Jimmy on this one. Apart from a couple of minutes on Radio Cumbria we have heard nothing from the new group, with one person not even prepared to give us his name. There is nothing wrong at all in my book with the new incumbents introducing themselves and setting out a brief summary about why they want to get involved and what their aspirations are for the club. I think we all understand that the appointments are subject to approval according to FA rules, but this seems to be being used as a reason to say nothing at all. If any of the new group of directors have done homework on things that frustrate supporters, they will know that communications has been patchy and sometimes poor. I hope the new group will change things for the better. Some supporters may remember 'Boardroom Banter', quite a few years ago, which was an attempt to let us know a bit more about how the club was being run. It was well intentioned, but I don't recall it lasting too long... Perhaps this is something for the new team to mull over. Some clubs, including CUFC, I think, allow a supporters representative to 'observe' at board meetings. That would be interesting? Finally, again relating to communications, did anyone know that we have signed James Bell from Cleator Moor Celtic last week? www.betvictornorthernpremier.co.uk/weekly-transfer-update-7th-march-61473

I attended board meetings as Supporters Club representative when Humphrey was chairman. If I remember correctly, this ended when a different former chairman objected to me attending.

Thanks for clarifying the situation concerning the 6th Director. Hopefully, the new Board will adopt a more proactive approach to how they keep the fans informed. In the majority of cases, people are only looking for reassurance that the Club's affairs are being handled responsibly and correctly. Sharing information early and accurately must be a much more inclusive, and therefore productive, means of showing trust to the faithful who through the revenue coming through the turnstiles keep the Club afloat. Pleased that you clarified the position concerning the 6th Director Paul, it would have been good if one of the three current Director's could have said something - opportunity to improve, perhaps

Jimmyg why don't you read and take note of Walshy's post on this matter.
"We have a superb young manager, a terrific side playing the best football we have produced in years and hopefully plans for a refurbished stadium at Borough Park are building momentum. It’s time for unity (often an impossible word at Workington AFC) off the field and, for everyone, and I mean everyone, to get behind the new regime."
We are two months away from a possible Championship and even a treble winning season. How about enjoying that?

It's absolutely nothing to do with a lack of loyalty or not appreciating the success that we are currently enjoying on the pitch. My point is entirely about the value of keeping the fans informed about the issues that affect our club, particularly the issues that are important to our long-term viability and good reputation. If you had took the time to read my previous posts you couldn't have failed to notice that I have said that I believe the new Directors have the necessary experience and skill to move the Club forward. God help us if we have got to the point where if someone suggests that the Board should share more information with its fans that this somehow amounts to disloyalty or a lack of support. The interests of the Club will be best served if everyone can offer their opinions and views. If people are unable or not willing to accept this then we are in a poor and potentially dangerous place.
