Great signing. Must be splashing the cash. All that fundraising done by the Club , RISC and SC seems to be paying dividends.

Pity the news was not released by the club first, instead of Cumbria Crack

All news should be released by the club and not given to a company who have nothing to do with sport. They are an engineering company based in Appleby who bought out Cumbria Crack and Cumberland and Westmoland news paper.

John Walsh would like to respond to waterloo sunset. "I was recruited by the Cumbria Crack to write sport for them. It gives west clubs the chance of publicity which other outlets have sadly chosen to ignore since Cumbrian Newspapers sold out. I have been in the game 58 Years so I work to basic journalistic motives. If you get a story first and know it to be correct you want it out there. In these days of social media it is harder and harder to get a scoop. As for sports clubs putting out news first, we are entering dangerous territory. There are times when they don't put out stories which their fans should know about. Of course its great that clubs, like Reds, do excellent communication work and the current board is the best I've known in my time as a journo covering the club since 1967. But please don't carp about good publicity. They might have been bought by a guy from Appleby but the man running it is an old pal of mine and a former Reds player. They have tremendous readership figures and Reds are getting a good shout. I hope to get a few more good scoops in the months ahead.

Well done Walshy, great post and really excited that you regard this board as the best since 1967. Publicity like this creates a buzz and encourages bodies through the turnstiles. Keep it up!

Well Reds would be worse off without Walshy and All publicity fir Reds is to be welcomed whatever the source. IMO Walshy has summed it up fairly and accurately based on his experience in the industry. Still look at News & Star but there Reds are an after thought every time

Well it wouldnt be a Reds forum without a topic around a marquee new signing being hijacked and turned into a whinge about the local press. Who cares who reports the news as long as it gets reported? The club have done an outstanding job securing this signing and Walshy has done as fantastic job as ever covering it
