I was told the other week that we are intending to keep going with the tickets into the season, makes no difference to me and makes it easier on a matchday. As long as people are aware that they have to go to the office I see no problem

If we are sticking with ticket only, is there any chance of paying online or over the phone and issuing tickets to be printed at home?
Fully appreciate the logistics of setting this up would be a pain, but it's also a pain to get to the office when BP is an hour's round trip away and you work through the week
*Just an example of how this would work, I went to a COVID test event in Manchester, with a similar attendance to an average Reds match, where pre-collected ticket holders used gates A&B, then tickets to be collected on the day/or have been printed at home, use turnstile C (for surnames A-M), turnstile D (for N-Z)

A season ticket is the ideal solution.

Probably due to FA currently still have Covid restrictions in place for all football teams.

Think that is now Club policy. Tickets from office during week and on match days, cash or credit card.

Bringing the debate back here rather than in the match thread. I understand that maybe online ticketing is expensive - but why not offer it with the cost added on to each ticket? I can't imagine it would be prohibitive, maybe 50p extra? I understand the argument that you need people to man the turnstiles and cash up but if you are expecting cash on the night to buy tickets then that argument is simply invalid. How about online tickets where you pay the extra, the current system of buying tickets before match day and then open ONE turnstile for cash payments on match day.

So the experience last night was not as bad as i expected, couldn't see how the office would cope with a big crowd but seems it didnt affect the attendance. However it only coped because you could give correct change outside to someone with a load of tickets who then handed the cash to another guy to hold in his hand all crunched up, and he looked like he was struggling to hold it all
Can anyone explain to me why handing cash to someone on the road outside the ground is preferable to handing cash to someone in a turnstile? That guy could have easily dropped some of that money, you had to have exact change or anyone could have robbed him and run off. More seriously anyone could turn up with a load of fake tickets and pretend to be selling them, if you were an away supporter you wouldnt know who was connected to the club or not.
So while the points i made in the match thread about online still stand, it is clear that the system will not cope with a large crowd unless the club resorts to taking cash in a far more chaotic and insecure way than just having turnstile take it
Finally can someone explain what the system is trying to achieve? prevent theft? covid spread? get the attendance counted earlier? over-ordered paper tickets last season and need to use them up?

Good points Ash. I'm on holiday at the moment so wasn't there last night so didn't see the 'situation'. But if ythe club is accepting payment in cash on a match day then this must be done at a turnstile - that's bloody obvious. Also allowing payment by card us great and that can be done as now. I would love to see the explanation for the current situation over paying at one turnstile.

The small contactless card readers you can connect to a mobile are available on relatively cheap subscriptions, aren't they? They'd be great at the turnstiles, bar and shop.

...you could give correct change outside to someone with a load of tickets who then handed the cash to another guy to hold in his hand... Didn’t realise we were taking cash last night in exchange for a ticket. I thought the club’s new policy was card only.
