After the distractions of cup football, our focus returns to the league campaign. Having suffered our first league defeat at Warrington Rylands, we lost for a second time in the FAT v Dunston. Dunston have been drawn at home to Bamber Bridge in the next round. SOuhds like we were heading for a 3rd defeat on the bounce v Whitehaven until the last 5 minutes of ET. Great comeback and good to be winning again.
Whilst we were involved in the CCC midweek, there were four league fixtures. Marine 3-0 Kidsgrove now means that Marine and Mossley are only 3 points behind us, but with 2 games in hand.
Newcastle Town are 16th with 11 points from 12 games
Reds are 1st with 27 points from 12 games
Newcastle Town at home 1-0-5
Reds away 4-1-1
Recent Newcastle Town results:
12 Oct Runcorn 2-0 Newcastle
9 Oct Coleshill Town 2-3 Newcastle
2 Oct Widnes 0-0 Newcastle
28 Sept Newcastle 1-0 Kendal
25 Sept Kempston Rovers 2-2 Newcastle (FAT2QR) (3-4 pens)
18 Sept Newcastle 2-3 Leek Town
14 Sept 1874 Northwich 1-1 Newcastle
11 Sept Bootle 2-3 Newcastle
7 Sept Newcastle 1-2 Mossley
4 Sept Glossop NE 0-2 Newcastle
Newcastle overall since 1 Sept 4-3-3
Reds overall since 1 Sept 5-3-2
Newcastle's solitary league win at home was against Kendal who are second bottom and lost all of their five away games.
Other significant matches today:
City of Liverpool v Trafford (5th)
Mossley (3rd) v Clitheroe
Warrington Rylands (4th) v Kidsgrove
Runcorn (8th) v Rams
I have included Runcorn as despite being 8th, they have only played 9 games. They also visit Borough Park next week.
Marine (2nd) v Wrexham (FAC4QR) means Marine will have 3 games in hand.
Come on you Reds
