Having had our third Saturday off in six weeks, we now host the sole midweek league fixture. This was originally scheduled for 13 Nov, but Bootle were involved in FAT.
Reds are 3rd with 37 points from 17 games Bootle are 11th with 24 points from 17 games
Reds at home 5-2-1 Bootle away 4-0-4
Recent Bootle results: 4 Dec Bootle 2-4 Warrington Rylands 27 Nov Kidsgrove 1-2 Bootle 20 Nov Bootle 0-3 Leek Town 13 Nov Bootle 3-3 Stalybridge Celtic (FAT1R) (3-5 pens) 6 Nov Bootle 1-2 Glossop NE 30 Oct Bootle 1-1 Widnes (FAT3QR) (4-3 pens) 23 Oct Colne 0-2 Bootle 16 Oct Bootle 3-0 Prescot Cables 9 Oct Trafford 1-1 Bootle (FAT2QR) (1-3 pens) 2 Oct 1874 Northwich 0-5 Bootle
Reds overall since 1 Oct 6-1-3 Bootle overall since 1 Oct 4-3-3
Despite their recent record of 4-3-3 Bootle are undefeated away from home in that time. The last time they lost on the road was 28 Sept at Widnes 3-0. Although they are mid table, they have been on the rise and this could be a trickier fixture than suggested on paper.
Things continue to be tight amongst the front runners. A win here would take Reds back to the top of the league prior to our pending visit to City of Liverpool at the weekend. Reds are currently 4 wins on the bounce so here's hoping for a 5th consecutive win and be back in pole position at the end of the night.
Come on you Reds.

Most important game of the season so far. We must make the most of Marine's slip-up on Saturday. Carlisle away, hoping for 600plus, Storm Barra permitting!

According to Pete from Oz, the game against Bootle is on Wednesday 8th, weather permitting . I thought we play them on Tuesday the 7th. Can someone please clarify the true date.

Sorry all - my mistake. Amended the subject to Tuesday. Don't worry Peter, it will be Wednesday 8/12 for you when we kick off. And you wont have storm Barra to contend with.

could this game not have been called off due to the storm forecast and to the health and safety of the players and supporters having to endure such atrocious conditions for travelling, playing and spectating. i had enough at the last home game i was frozen for the next 12 hours, as my mate said at least the club got our money with us being season ticket holders albeit the wrong side of 70 .

Match ruined by the conditions. Reds should have won the game though, created and missed enough clear chances to win comfortably despite the weather.

What an awful night for a football game. I've rarely seen things as bad as they were for this game. My congratulations to the staff that prepare the pitch, they did a great job.
Given the weather conditions a good football game was almost impossible. As the rules/ guidelines for football appear to change on a weekly basis I have no idea what they are for calling a game off due to a weather forecast/ weather conditions, but on a personal level I feel this game should not have been played. For me a draw was about right.

The club can't call off the game. It has to be the match referee or a local ref in liaison with the match referee. There was a pitch inspection earlier in the day when the pitch was fine and the Met Office weather forecast had no rain before kick off. Any game would never be called off on the speculation that there might be rain later.
