Sorry, not Reds-related, but some of the comments about people that get involved in non-league teams in the 'Final 10 Games' thread struck a chord after reading this today - stainestownfootballclub.co.uk/urgent-club-statement/It's a long read, but Staines of the Isthmain League have suspended all football operations with immediate effect due to the, erm, conduct, of the company which controls the team's landlord. It's an eye opener, don't think I've ever read anything like it!

Saw this via the Ollie Bayliss twitter feed ( I'd recommend any non league fan who uses Twitter to give him a follow ). The Staines situation is just astonishing.

Mind blowing ! One would hope that the Football authorities would support Staines to keep playing football despite the “politics involved”

The club have done the right thing highlighting and condemning the actions of their ‘landlords’. They deserve what’s coming to them…. If they weren’t bottom of the league though I’m sure they would be fulfilling those fixtures. The link between misdemeanours at the top of the chain and team performance at the bottom is a little tenuous. Possibly just an unscrupulous landlord screwing the club regardless of other behaviour? Numerous other clubs in that boat… Really interesting to see what the league do…will set a standard.
