What a time to hit our straps again. A 0-4 demolition of Bootle. After two postponements, the second one in dubious circumstances, I must say it felt good this morning to see the score. Maybe, just maybe, after being short changed by the league / Covid over recent years, the rub of the green is finally going to turn in our favour? I'll try to keep my excitement under control for now though.
And so on to the biggest match of the season. The visit of Warrington Rylands, league leaders, free scorers, form team, and challengers for the single automatic promotion place. I hope that the crowd is swelled way above 1000 again and that Reds can get the job done in front of them all. Win this match, and we will be odds on to win the league with three games to go.
Reds are 2nd with 79 points from 34 games Rylands are 1st with 80 points from 35 games
Reds at home 15-1-2 Rylands away 10-4-3
Recent Rylands results: 2 April Rylands 2-0 Runcorn 26 Mar Rams 0-1 Rylands 19 Mar Rylands 7-0 Market Drayton 12 Mar City of Liverpool 1-2 Rylands 5 Mar Kendal 0-2 Rylands 26 Feb Rylands 4-1 Trafford 12 Feb Rylands 3-1 1874 Northwich 8 Feb Rylands 6-0 Colne 5 Feb Clitheroe 2-2 Rylands
Reds overall since 1 Feb 5-2-1 Rylands overall since 1 Feb 8-1-0
Rylands' last defeat was back on 22 Jan losing 1-0 at Kidsgrove. Prior to that they lost 3-0 at Leek on 18 Dec. Between them, Reds and Rylands have won a collective 16 games of their previous 20 matches.
Current top of the league using played and points & GD
Rylands 35 80 +56 Reds 34 79 +44 Marine 34 73 +26
Leek 34 72 +34
Other big games today: Colne v Marine Leek v Mossley
Rylands' two remaining matches after today are at 1874 Northwich, and at home to Bootle.
A draw today and we are still in charge of our own destiny, defeat and Rylands will likely go on to win the league. This will be a game for cool heads, controlled emotions, and match maturity. I hope it is a wonderful day for the Reds, all the supporters and indeed the town overall. Come on you Reds. After three years in this league, let's take our opportunity with both feet. :-)

Just please don't let Symington take any corners or long free kicks ... 11 in last two away games and all wasted. Puzzling for such an excellent player.

Very simple equation Saturday Reds Must avoid Defeat, Rylands need to win
A defeat for us and its out of our hands Ditto for Rylands if they fail to win.
A draw favours us but we would have to win our game in hand due to the Goal Difference.

Effectively the title decider. Best we've played for a few weeks at Bootle so lads should be confident going in but I'm sure Warrington are too. Please water the pitch certainly helped us in last match playing on a decent surface

Whatever the crowd we get on Saturday - and I'm sure it'll be healthy - we actually need to get behind the team from the start and give them a lift. And make it as unpleasant as possible for the Rylands players.

At this moment in time to make sure we need to aim for 89 points as a minimum, 3 wins and a draw - all being equal with this scenario Warrington can only obtain 87 points.

The players just need to play their own game forget the occasion its 11 against 11 and that home record of Reds is impressive let Rylands do-the worrying. Focus and concentration will be key and hopefully Kyle H will be fit if its not a hamstring injury.

Yeah, hopefully confidence is restored. Got to stay positive. Warrington on a roll but reading the reports struggled to break down Runcorn and Rammy last 2 games. Lad Drummond up front pace to burn…quality player. Is Brad available Saturday…good selection headache to have in midfield. Can’t fault Tuesdays commitment…

Got to be honest i am not at all a fan of this sentiment that seems to be coming out of the club (or rather from the manager) that you shouldnt bother coming to the game on saturday unless you bring your voice to support the team. The manager said this to the travelling fans on tuesday (didnt say thanks for support tonight or anything) then said it again on Radio Cumbria and now the club puts out a tweet (Subsequently deleted) saying similar.
The messaging should be positive always and encouraging behaviours you want (people to come down and pack the place out, and get behind the team). Not making it negative and putting people off.
Suggests the manager is annoyed about the atmosphere at Borough Park, i agree with him, its not been great lately. But for me that's partly reflective of how poor the performances have been there in recent weeks. If they start the game like they did Tuesday at Bootle i bet the place will be well up for it. If they start like they did against Colne i can see more of the same.

But we have a role to play as supporters. We should not be turning up and waiting to be entertained before we start getting behind the team. We should be getting behind the team from the start to lift them. We've done this before but not this season. And as I said in an earlier post we should get on the back of the opposition and make them as uncomfortable as possible. We shouldn't make opposition teams welcome.

I'm only an occasional visitor to Borough Park - three times this season - but I have to say I have found the atmosphere strangely muted, particularly the game against Colne. Granted, it wasn't an inspiring performance but surely this is the time fans need to get behind their team - to give them a lift when things aren't going well. There won't be a more important occasion for this to happen than tomorrow. I'm sure the players will be doing their utmost to give us something to cheer. I hope they get all the encouragement they deserve to get them over the line.

Got to agree about the lack of atmosphere at times but dont think it is necessarily a new thing, probably not helped by the crowd being so spread out, with regard to the game I unfortunately cant make it so fully expect and hope the lads can produce their best performance of the season, good luck and get behind them from the start

It's always been the same. Support for the Reds away from home is superb, at Borough Park it's muted to say the least. In fact in the 1990s it was almost anti-Reds unless we were winning or constantly attacking. Tomorrow depends on one man . . . please keep a clean sheet Jim!!!!
