Feeling somewhat dejected putting this together after yesterday's loss. Trying desperately to put a positive spin on it. We are second in the league, trailing only by one point. If we were in 5th position (Runcorn) and playing this match to secure our place in the play offs, I can't help feel that I would be more excited, despite how odd that seems. Anyway, we can't change what has happened. We can only move on.
This could have been our final home game for the season. That now seems very unlikely, but not impossible. Kendal visit having been relegated a few weeks ago. I am sure that all Reds supporters will have one foot in Northwich today where we will be cheering them on to get something from Warrington Rylands' visit. I will post a few stats about that game at the end.
Reds are 2nd with 80 points from 36 games
Kendal are 19th with 11 points from 36 games
Reds at home 12-4-2
Kendal away 1-1-16
Recent Kendal results:
16 Apr Kendal 0-0 1874 Northwich
9 Apr Rams 2-0 Kendal
2 Apr Market Drayton 2-1 Kendal
Reds overall since 1 Feb 5-3-2
Kendal overall since 1 Feb 0-1-8
Current top of the league using played and points & GD
Rylands 36 81 +56
Reds 36 80 +43
Marine 36 77 +27
Leek 36 75 +36
Runcorn 36 72 +32
We are well aware that we need to win both our remaining fixtures. Goal difference is now unlikely to play a part in who wins the league, unless Rylands draw their two matches and we somehow win one and lose one. Effectively, Rylands must fail to win against Northwich or at home to Bootle for Reds to win the title.
Destiny is no longer in our hands, and we can only do what we can control - beat Kendal and then MDT on the final day. Come on you Reds.
1874 Northwich v Rylands

5 Mar Bootle 3-2 Northwich
1 Mar Rams 2-0 Northwich
Northwich haven't conceded a goal in their last 4 outings, and only 1 in their last five. They are now unbeaten in five games.
Recent Rylands results:
9 April Reds 1-1 Rylands

26 Mar Rams 0-1 Rylands
19 Mar Rylands 7-0 Market Drayton
12 Mar City of Liverpool 1-2 Rylands

26 Feb Rylands 4-1 Trafford
12 Feb Rylands 3-1 1874 Northwich
8 Feb Rylands 6-0 Colne
5 Feb Clitheroe 2-2 Rylands
The draw at Borough Park brought Rylands' 8 wins on the bounce to an end. After banging in 7 v MDT, they have only scored 4 times in their previous three outings. A 0-0 or 1-1 would do just fine please. Come on 1874 Northwich.
Other matches today to settle play off positions:
Bootle v Marine
Leek v Kidsgrove
Prescot v Runcorn
