Sorry but Mr Willcock was only interested in Mr Willcocks CV. Not interested in Workington Reds very true he did not speak to the 2 men that ran the devolpment system he just looked after his mates. It will be interestingwhi will run the devolpment team next season That's very poor news, the whole development system has been one of the most positive things to come out of the club in the last few years ,Brian Dawson is in charge at Cleator Moor next season, probably take a few development lads with him which would be a good step up to the north west counties for any lad, hopefully the new manager and reserve manager can keep good relations going with them

Just thinking back…. Other than Sam Smith in the 1st team can anyone think of any youngsters recently capable of playing at the level required? The step up is massive, like asking a league 3 player to play against Liverpool!! I’m all for a youth programme but let’s be realistic…even most of the lads from Carlisle we’ve had on loan couldn’t cut it so I think expectation of lads playing in the county league is a little high. Some might be up to it eventually but will be the exception rather than the norm as it is as most other clubs. Without contacts outside the county we won’t challenge… Just my opinion…..

For me, as far back as I can remember our best players have always been county based. Many are ex Carlisle but still local lads. Id of liked to see us keep Players like Liam Brockbank but we have to be realistic and realise Lancaster are playing in a better division than us now and players will leave. I agree, you do have to add bits of quality in certain areas, and having a manager who can bring that in is a bonus. But filling a squad with lads from outside Cumbria never seems to work well for reds. Throughout most of my time as a reds fan we've had at least 1 experienced ex pro player who is winding down. Maybe we would have benefited from that this season when the pressure was on. Despite poor performances recently, I don't think we need an awful lot players wise. A little more squad depth maybe. I'd be happy with the same squad, replace Fenwick and add a full back so we don't use Symington as our 2nd RB. Maybe a centre back as cover/rotation for sam/dan

In my opinion we need two new 6ft+ centre backs and a centre forward who can score 20 goals at this level.

The defence was creaking toward the end of the season, the current centre backs I would keep as utility backs to play either in the middle or full back depending on who is staying and the playing situation as season progresses. Symmington was by far the leading goalscorer and the central attackers were nowhere near as prolific as they should have been look at league stats.

Maybe some gossip will come from tonight's presentation evening regarding a new manager and player movements, maybe a long shot would be the return of Darren Edmondson who today has announced he will be leading a sports academy based at Newton Rigg

I have heard strong rumours it's going to be Danny but with him being the obvious choice it's hard to tell whether it's wishful thinking,an educated guess or inside knowledge. Fingers crossed for Danny.

If it is Danny Grainger, can we run a raffle on how long he stays this time before buggering off to pastures new? Edmo surely is a rank outsider. Mind you he did a grand job last time, he might be in the running. When people on this forum criticise Chris Willcock for promotion failure, the players have a very big part to play in that as well! Whoever gets the job has a tough job ahead of them being up against the likes of big spenders Macclesfield.

if the team is playing well the manager and players are always going to be in the shop window in any work place if theres more money offered and better quality of work place to work in you are going to move on i think if covid hadnt happened we wouldnt have lost Danny i liked his stile of football the last few matches of the season created nothing only off set pieces we really did blow it Market Drayton no creativity pure against 1o men Trafford two freekicks against Kendall i know Chris Willcock got a lot of stick but so should the players what ever team we put out against Market Drayton we should have won toothless comes to mind not so long a go some of these plyers were playing blue square north

IMO Chris was let go because of the manner of the performances which seemed to steadily decline as the season went on. Had we continued to play the style of football we played under Grainger he would have kept his job.

No news last night then ? The fact is around Cumbria there are not too many experienced proven Managers around. To take a flier on an inexperienced Manager would be an almighty risk and may set the club back. Important that the club sets out its stall and starts the season with positive performances. The feel good factor has to replace the agony of April 2022
