This is why promotion was vital this season. Don't want to sound too defeatist but realistically next season is going to be a playoff season at best. With the change of manager (whoever that may be) we should spend pre season and the early season rebuilding, bringing in good young local talent and bleeding them through while hopefully maintaing a playoff spot. Also adding bits of quality where we can but knowing our promotion challenge is most likely going to be down to 2 one off games at the end of April.
Can anyone confirm if promotion is the same as this season? (1 auto + 1 playoffs) still haven't managed to figure out how it worked last season with 4 going up and 2 coming down. There's 8 divisions in England at our level, 2 up each league and from what I can see only 2 down from the 4 step 3 divisions above us? Bamboozled.

Robby Savage will love the publicity ! Macclesfield will probably rise until they reach Nati9nal League but then will suffer against better opposition with bigger budgets NoFinancial Fairplay at Reds level

Good young local talent. As an outsider please enlighten me by naming some players and who they play for?

The last time we went for young local talent was post Bromley and look how that panned out for us
Nothing wrong with having a primarily county based squad with a few travellers thrown in, especially if they boost our quality.
I would be very worried if the likes of nico & kyle harrison are lining up against us next season because weve binned them off in favour of a kid with experience of mid table county league.
We cant just be resigned to the playoffs and have a defeatist attitude, otherwise whats the point in playing. Need positivity not acceptance of mediocrity

I know a club in a higher division is already sniffing round Nico.

Good young local talent. As an outsider please enlighten me by naming some players and who they play for? Exactly Ian. We are playing in the npl west division if the manager can't bring young players into an already good squad he isnt worth his position, please remember Danny Grainger brought in 3 18year old ex yts players immediately, one is at higher level and is someone who should be high on our shopping list ,another had 2 good seasons but struggled at times under Wilcock and the 3rd performed well but left due to work, so realistically those released in the last 2 years from Carlisle will have the ability if their attitude is right, would expect liam lightfoot and keelan leslie to improve under the right guidance, would also like us to bring back Matt Douglas and look at Owen Moxon at Annan. I'm sure Steven Rudd knows exactly who are the best talents in this county but lads need to be encouraged and mixed in with senior players

Our best players for years now have been local players. The majority of which came from nowhere. Allinson, tinnion, smith to name a few. Plus the lads we have picked up from Carlisle like Symington, Wordsworth. To say these kind of players don't exist in the county is naive and we would never have had the likes of Sam smith and Scotty with that kind of outlook. CUFC Will release a few under 18s and 1st year pros, Annan have had a cracking season, Carlisle city too. Plenty of ex reds players in those squads who could come back and do a job. I'm sure there are others we don't know about. I can't imagine people like Fenwick are coming cheap, 1 Fenwick can probably be swapped for 2 decent local players.
Plenty of games this season we had injured players on our bench making numbers up. Imo We'd be much better off with a larger squad (dual reg?) And bring some good young talent off the bench when the game allows. We need quality players too, and I don't think we should be looking to lose many of the current squad. Fenwick could leave for me, but Jerome, Nico, I would like to keep. Although I heard Jerome was leaving but hopefully the new manager can persuade him to stay.

Spot on Liam. I know a club in a higher division is already sniffing round Nico. Well I hope they get better value for money than the Reds did . . . . Harsh imo. It wasn't Nico's fault he suffered that bad injury at Marine in the FA Cup after scoring a worldy. Even when he was out he showed commitment by turning up at away games. A fully fit Nico Evangelinos would walk into any team in Reds division or the one above.

The main problem with having players like Nico is they are likely to return to their home area as soon as an offer comes for more money, very short term thinking can cost in the long run. On the subject of Macclesfield it seems somehow wrong that although not strictly the same club they can go bankrupt owing thousands then within a year of restart go full time at a very low level

Well what else are football supporters supposed to do if the club they love goes under? And there's nothing stopping us going full time either. Other than money. And there are no rules against it. If Macclesfield win the league then we need to win the playoffs and get promoted.
