Now that Danny is back to get the 1st team back on track are there any plans to get the reserves looked after with Brian and Craig leaving? This is a young team who have achieved more under them than anyone expected and we need this young team to keep on progressing through the ranks. Also the youngsters need brought back into the club as there seems to be a separation lately between the Juniors and seniors side of the club (Free tickets aside!) as there is no connection on how we want our youngsters to learn how to play to make it into the 1st team.
On top of this the womens side were always playing at Borough Park early on in the season and were performing well but with the departure of their manager it looks like this link is broken and on top of that they looked like they have went backwards so something isnt right there! Have we ever had a season where the 1st team, Reserves team and ladies team manager have left in the same season?
Do we have a bigger deeper lying problem or are we waiting to announce the return of all of them so we can get the good times back again 🙏
I'm not sure what the answer is but I would suggest we roll back to the good times, get the right people back in charge agaon and support all sides of the club and get Borough Park rocking again on all fronts

Morning, I wouldn't normally post but it seems the simplest way here is to answer most of those questions, which are fair and relevant by the way, straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Hopefully that will maintain our good communication with the supporters and save anyone making assumptions. Here goes:
Development Squad, one of the first things discussed with DG has been the future of this team, it will continue next season and we are looking for a coach/manager currently. There are some fantastic players in this squad and the key here is retaining them and making them ready for 1st team football. There will be comings and goings, thats football but our pathway will be maintained.
Juniors, Through Brian Dawson's RITC/Academy (as some call it) we have players from Foundation Stage (boys and girls) right through to U18. Those players are being coached in the way we want to play going forward and have been since the beginning. From u13s through to u16s we have had teams playing in the JPL this season where they play other senior clubs in Lancashire and Cheshire week in week out. The likes of Chorley, Atherton etc. There quite simply is nowhere better for our youngsters to test themselves outside Pro Academies. Next season our current u16s will move to u18s at this level. Its a work in progress but imagine in 4yrs time the younger ones will have followed the JPL path right through benefitting from that development against stronger sides week in week out. Exciting times ahead. We also still have our links with Reds Juniors in the Grassroots game and this year we have built on this building relationships with many other Grassroots clubs and Schools through our Summer Tournaments and our Mascot Scheme as well as the 'free ticket' scheme (currently 3500 have been given out with 2500 more to go before next season) we are developing the future generations of supporters too!
Ladies, yes a change in manager but they are in safe hands, best league finish ever, finishing ahead of Penrith (just) but considerably higher than Carlisle Utd. We are the strongest team in the county and we are signing the best local young talent as has been proven over the last few weeks. Remember also that RITC has girls teams from 12 to 16, this pathway isn't far off being a mirror image of the boys side.
One thing you touched on was the use of Borough Park. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than watching all these teams play there week in week out. However if you attend games you will have seen the pitch, despite everyones best efforts is far from perfect, imagine another 30 adult games over the winter period and then tell me that playing them all there is the right thing to do. Both Development and Ladies have used it when it has been in a condition where they could use it (early/late season) and all the JPL teams will be using it this coming weekend playing a series of friendly games before we close the pitch for essential maintainance. In the current climate (parden the pun) I'm not sure we can do much more when we all quite clearly want our teams to play opponents off the park with our flowing passing football.
Oh for a new Community Facility where all this can happen week in week out........
I hope this has given everyone an insight as to where we are. Personally I'm always ready to listen, come and find me for a crack or give me a call, we are always looking for new ideas, even send me your CV if you fancy a crack at getting involved in any way shape or form.

I have to say regarding the pitch the less games on it the better, especially now DG is back and the style of football he likes to play. It is a Shame for the other teams involved in the club but it's just the harsh reality of where the club is currently regarding facilities. It may be beneficial to have the development squad and ladies play on Derwent park-as a dry run for when the 1st team are forced to switch on there while the new stadium goes ahead-although maybe the costs would make it an unviable experiment. Does this mean the new stadium will have an AstroTurf pitch? Something similar to Widness I would imagine? As they share with the rugby.

Fantastic reply Richard, I think everyone appreciates the strides that the club has made in the community over the last few seasons, great to read a bit about the jpl and ladies teams, would it be possible for the local paper to run a few main features on these initiatives, I get my information on line but there is still a large older support who find newspapers better and this would probably reach out to more occasional supporters. Sometimes the people of the county dont realise the size of the clubs operation, really hope we see some more news on the sports village soon as well

Thank you for the reply Richard, Very detailed and very much appreciated you took the time to reply. Forgive me if I came across as rude as that wasn't the intention.
With the Juniors I was more meaning do we have the connection with the actual Juniors side of the club in how they play or do we just focus on the RITC players? I understand this would be a lot harder to do with it being volunteer run but perhaps visits from the senior coaching/playing squad to their training could help the youngsters and their coaches/parents understand what the club is looking for in future players.
I agree the joining of the jpl was a stroke of masterpiece to join but will this continue under any new manager restructure of the RITC?
Please also note I wasn't putting the Womens side down and their achievements, what I was alluding too was they were in contention for the league halfway through the season and then finished up a long way back, so yes they may have had their best ever season but it could have been a lot better which is why I raised my question.
I understand your point on the pitch and the number of games played on it, On photos it always looks in prestige condition which granted these are taken before the game and not after so it's not always easy to understand how bad it can get during a game.
Lastly, I would love to be able to help out at the club but I work constant night shifts, so unless you need someone to sleep at the ground during the day I don't think I'm the correct person ha. But you do raise a point which made me think if things could be better. If we are requiring people to submit CV's to see if they are suitable/able to help out would it be an idea to publish what roles are available as this may get more people interested in helping. E.g, Bar attendant wanted as someone may be sitting at home thinking I could do that to help out rather than the club sitting back waiting for people to volunteer of the cuff? Just some thoughts and again I appreciate you replying.

Just a quick response this time
We do have a connection with the grassroots club yes, some of their coaches are also RITC coaches, many of their kids are involved with RITC too so there is constant crossover between the two, your idea of players or coaching staff going in there is a good one but it would have to be on the Juniors terms, there are some very good people doing very good things there and its not for us to call the shots.
JPL won't change with Brian going to Cleator Moor, he is still involved with RITC and he does not directly coach a team within our pathway.
Ladies being honest the league they are in is very up and down, some really good sides some not so good, I think the highest they ever were was 3rd and they finished 4th but they did finish with some tough fixtures in the run in. Next season I hear a real promotion push is the aim.
Pitch wise, it always looks good but its whats happening underneath that matters, we have work to do here in a very short time (7 weeks) but whatever we do, one game like the Bootle one last year and we are right back where we started.
Regarding volunteers, its about square pegs in square holes, anyone spending time at the club on matchdays must be able to see we are stretched to our limit with helpers, kitchen/cafe, groundstaff, hospitality. Bigger crowds mean more work its that simple. We aren't happy cruising along on gates of 4/500, we want 1000 plus every week with a successful team to watch. We will be actively looking to expand our volunteer pool over the summer, most people out there will have some skills we need its just a case of us finding out who can do and more importantly is happy doing what. The CV was a bit tongue in cheek about the Development Team Managers job but you just never know.

Now that we have the 1st team back delivering the good times is it time to get the Reserves and Womens teams back on track.
We need as much positivity around the club as we can get and to be honest this hasn't happened this season away from the 1st team. If we are to make a success of both the promotion and the new stadium we need as many people as possible to go to all of these games.
The womens team, despite Richard saying they were going for a promotion push, have just suffered there worst season in a long time and despite this they have had great crowds. Do we now look for a better manager and get the results back especially with the crowds coming along and capitalise on this? Is there any new blood out there for the women or do we look at going back to a winning a formula!
With the reserves, how many have looked to step up? Do we carry on with this plan or do we try and recruit the U18's that Carlisle have just released? If we don't have the players in the current crop then we need to look elsewhere, Bring them in and get them to play the Reds way. Otherwise we may as well just admit we are going to be a 1-2 Season vlub without a plan!
It's a mine field at the moment and one that we may be celebrating through but we need to decide quickly before others around us do.
In my opinion we need to tap into Carlisle and their recent releases for the reserves team and also get someone who can guide the womens team back to where they were. This will generate an extra interest in the club at the most pivotal time when we all need it!
That and only that is the way the board should be focusing on right now to maximise on the recent 1st teams fortunes.

The women's team have had a lot of injuries this season and have a great set up at DP with after match entertainment on and like you say good crowds.
3 if our development squad players got game time in the CC final and Lewis Moore has been used the odd time in the league with Danny stating he's no hesitation using some of them if required.

With regards to the reserves I think we need to make use of the dual registration. Bring in young players when our first team need them but have them playing at Penrith, Kendal, or Carlisle City when we don't. The standard difference between Reds and the local leagues where our Development squad play is just far too big. Even step 5 leagues are a long way behind as we seen on Tuesday. We do however need to try and make sure we don't end up with a situation where they go to these clubs and not return like happened with young Palmer.
It's been great to see 3 of the young lads in and around the 1st team this season, but other than loans to step 5 clubs or throwing them in at the deep end I can't see another way to help them develop with the right level of competition.

Not buying any of that Rockerlad! The Womens team have the biggest squad they have ever had. Of the long term injuries wasn't 1 of them injured last season so they had time to find a replacement. The other has never been a regular on the teamsheet during the previous seasons. All other injuries throughout the season happened AFTER the writing was on the wall for them. With the squad size they have then they should be able to cope with injuries. We are going to lose this fan base they are creating if we carry on like this! As for the development squad, Do you think 3 or 4 matches a season in the county cup is good enough to help develop them. The games they played in was at a lower level than they should be playing week in week out. If they aren't playing at a decent level now each week they will find it a big step to play in the first team. We need a healthy combination of game time at a higher level for them along with good recruitment ties with Carlisle in my opinion

Thanks for backing us Rockerlad, it’s great to have people backing us👍.
Just for the record, the links between the Ladies and the main club is probably stronger now than at any other time. The move to Derwent Park was made in the best interests of both parties and it has been hugely successful for many, many reasons. Workington Town have been brilliant with us and have helped us grow more than we may have imagined. The move has also enabled Borough Park to be presented in the best condition possible for the first team.
We have competed most of this season without the services of 6 to 8 regular starting players as well as picking up extra injuries towards the end of the season. As such, we have relied heavily on the services of the younger players in the club who’s experience at the level we play at was zero before the season started. Thankfully we had recruited wisely and proactively at the end of last season securing the best young local talent available.
The younger element of the club that have had to take a giant step outside of their comfort zone this season. Daunted by the step up from the local Junior leagues to Regional level football, these young ladies have had to learn fast and work hard and it’s to their absolute credit that they have done so whilst remaining full of desire and willingness to succeed. The more experienced players in the squad have also had to dig deeper than they have ever needed to before. Fuelled by their love for the club and for what it means to them, these players have fought as hard as they could. They have encouraged and supported each other and like the younger players they have stood up to be counted when others may have walked away.
A spell of 12 away games on the spin since the start of the year has had a massive impact on our resolve, as it would on any team at any level. That’s all of January, February and all but one weekend in March, travelling every Sunday. This maybe WHEN some wall writing was starting to happen, because before then we were in a healthy position.
Just to make you aware that the Ladies operate independently and are ran by a very small group of volunteers that are also players. This group, along with myself, commit a huge portion of their free time to make the club as successful as possible and the success in attracting many new supporters to our games is credit to the work we do.
Off the pitch, it is without doubt that this season has seen the club grow as an organisation and we have forged great friendships and connections that will hopefully continue to grow each season and offer mutual benefits to all parties concerned.
As well as having superb facilities at Derwent Park to play on, we have also been given the opportunity to bring local talented junior female footballers (in the region of 350-400), the chance to showcase their skills in the numerous curtain raiser games that are played before us throughout the season.
The number of supporters has steadily increased over the year as too has our connections with them thanks to the hospitality of Workington Town and the use of the Fanzone,. Members of our group of volunteers have worked tirelessly each week and have repeatedly designed and published our high quality match day programs. This work has enabled the message about what we do as an organisation to grow and to become more visible to those who show their support attending our games, this includes the visibility of the numerous local businesses that have supported us throughout the year. There are no other clubs in our league that are as well organised as we are and delivering what we are off the pitch. There is no other club that is as well supported as we are, and thankfully, there aren’t any of our supporters that share the same opinions as you do about our organisation or our performances. Those that are truly knowledgeable about us share the frustrations we have, but like us, they look forward to better times ahead based on the sound foundations that we are building.
Fortunately, my future at the Ladies will be decided either by myself, when I think it’s the right time to step down, or, when influential people connected to the Ladies club decide that a change is needed.
So this season has been tough. The belief, resolve, desire and unity within the club is as strong now as it ever has been. Negativity from those that aren’t connected with us will not change our focus or weaken our resolve, it will instead galvanise us and drive us to strive for more.

Negativity from those that aren’t connected with us will not change our focus or weaken our resolve, it will instead galvanise us and drive us to strive for more. Great post and an interesting read on the running of the ladies section, the progress of the girls and women's football in the area has been a revelation even from my daughter wanting to play 20 years ago to now with an established club and a pathway for all girls through the local teams and the reds in the community. Well done to all keep battling away the efforts are appreciated
