What do people make of that then? Looks like the options have narrowed down (pending FA approval, but surely that's just a given at this stage) to either average points or scrap season altogether. I know which one I'd prefer. Pretty shit way for the season to end either way, let's be honest.

Yeah agree dreadful especially for teams like us in poll position but other things much more important atm. Whether its ppg or null and void the FA must apply same rules for football at all levels but not confident they will!

It appears that the final decision lies with the National League. I just wish they would do it sooner rather than later.
From the non-league newspaper:
“The Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Leagues are unanimous in wanting to terminate the 2019-20 season immediately. The Step 5/6 Leagues also support the immediate termination of the season. Whether that is done on the basis of determining final placings via average points per game, or the season is declared null & void cannot be determined until the National League decides how it wishes to proceed.
“Right now, the National League’s position is that they wish to be able to resume the 2019-20 season at some point. The feeder Leagues do not support this because our clubs do not have the financial resources to continue to honour player contracts indefinitely.
“The Step 3 and 4 Leagues have therefore commenced the process to terminate the season. This has to be ratified by the FA Council, so there may be a short delay as the relevant documentation is submitted, distributed and approved. Whilst this process is on-going, and once the National League has finalised how it wishes to proceed, competition issues can then be decided, together with the implications for promotion and relegation.
“As soon as the National League’s position is finalised, we will be able to confirm the basis on which the 2019-20 season has ended. As I have already pointed out, we need as much commonality across the National League System as possible.

You would not have expected anything less from a London based paper. They expect their preference to be accepted without question and at the same time demand Cash from the FA
The integrity of football is at stake and it should not be decided by media hype.

Both Reds and Barrow were hung out to dry in the 1970s by the media and football elite in the South.
OK, Reds had been struggling, but they were an important Football League outpost and shouldn't have been sacrificed for another London club.
Barrow's dismissal from the Football League in 1972 was probably the biggest travesty of the "re-election era". They should never have lost their League Status.
They lost it because the southern clubs didn't want to travel to 'The longest cul-de-sac in the remotest part of Northern Britain".
That was a quote from the chairman of a southern club at the time . . .
If Barrow and Reds lose out because the season is voided, then that will top the 1972 travesty.

I would be devastated if we lose out considering we are winning the league fair and square on any measure possible and with over 80% of the matches played. I just hope that somehow we will get a fair outcome

Chorley Manager has publicly stated that a relegation reprieve for Chorley would not sit comfortably with him.
The irony is that Pontefract had so many games pistponed because of the state of their ground was unfit to play on, Ramsbottom will always be subject to floods and they suffered postponements too. Keep believing is all Reds can do.

Said all along we will get shafted and all the season's hard work will have been for nothing. Yeah that's what I think. Barrow might get promoted to make up numbers re Bury but suppose then has knock on effect

If the average points per game basis is the chosen option then the current top five would still be the top five albeit in a different order also Pickering would still be bottom. Although we obviously have a vested interest surely this has to be a better solution than "null and void". At least this way the teams that have performed the best over what would be the majority of the season would be rewarded and there is a consequence for the team that has performed the worst. This reciprocates through the Non League Pyramid. The National League need to act swiftly to provide some closure on this and hopefully common sense and justice will.prevail.

I still think auto promotion places (probably average points system) for all leagues is the way to go. No relegation. Obviously the knock on upwards is increased league sizes. This can be rectified next season with additional relegation places back to the status quo.
This method means nobody gets disadvantaged this season.
