A very useful three points collected from our first trip to Hanley sees the Mighty Reds now occupying a play off position for the first time this season. Somewhat surprisingly maybe, leaders Macclesfield suffered their 3rd defeat of the season, which means Reds are now only 4 points off the top.
Next up is a visit from City of Liverpool who suffered a 0-5 reversal at home to Leek last weekend.
Reds are 5th with 20 points from 11 games City of Liverpool are 17th with 12 points from 12 games
Reds at home 3-1-2 City of Liverpool away 1-0-5
Recent City of Liverpool results: 22 Oct City of Liverpool 0-5 Leek Town 18 Oct City of Liverpool 4-0 Widnes 15 Oct City of Liverpool 2-1 Kidsgrove 8 Oct Trafford 3-2 City of Liverpool 1 Oct City of Liverpool 3-2 Trafford 24 Sept Hanley 2-3 City of Liverpool 20 Sept 1874 Northwich 2-0 City of Liverpool 6 Sept Colne 2-1 City of Liverpool
Reds overall since 1 Sept 5-1-2 City of Liverpool overall since 1 Sept 4-0-4
City of Liverpool's 4 wins since 1 Sept have come against teams all currently between 10th and 20th. 3 of their 4 losses have come against teams currently 3rd to 10th, the exception being Colne.
Reds are now undefeated in five and putting a welcome run of form together. City of Liverpool's away form sees their only victory on the road come at Hanley. All other away trips have ended in defeats. On paper, another 'easier' fixture and potential for another 3 points. The table still remains somewhat congested, with 5 points between 2nd and 9th. The fixture list today is affected by FAT1R, and a win today could see Reds in 2nd by the evening.
Come on you Reds.

Substitutes our best player, palmer and leaves some of the underperformers on. We are missing the bite of brad carroll and the guile of brad hubbold in midfield. Their only hope of scoring was from our cockups at the back. This is like watching England F---g frustrating , at least i can knock the telly off.Just read the live scoreboard of the match, one guy hit the nail on the head saying 2 of the players should not be in the team and another guy gives 1 of them the man of the match,Young palmer was better than both of them and he got took off.

It wasn't until Bobby Carroll came on that we started to move the ball about with some end result. Riggy & Scotty way off the pace. Keelan should have been given a run too; at least he has energy.

What a really pleasurable surprise to see Nathan Waterson at the game. Let us hope that he is considering coming back to play for the Reds as we could do with him. What a terrrible penalty attempt and why the hell was he allowed to take it? He lost us the game ! Disappointing game against a well organised defensive side. We should have won today.

Pretty much already covered, but we really should have won today. Had the vast, vast majority of the ball and chances and then missed a pen against a poor side.
We looked a little lacklustre all over the pitch and could've played until next Saturday without scoring.
Leslie, Palmer, Carroll and Jerome need to come in and inject a bit of pace next week for me.

Never understand why with the power of Dav’s shooting he doesn't take the penalties. .Hindsight is a wonderful attribute. !

Should have won easily against an average side who got everyone behind the ball whenever they could. Cannot understand why Reilly (1 goal all season) was allowed to take the penalty while Scotty, Dav or even Ruben were on the pitch. Dav was very poor today with nothing coming off from him & the team struggled from then on, lets hope its just a blip & we can bring 3 points back from Macclesfield on Tuesday

A game we should have won. We dominated possession, especially second half. Liverpool didn't look a bad side but I felt we were so much better than them all over the pitch. Bottom line is we didn't score so the possession counts for nothing.
I know it's the modern way of playing but I'm not a fan of starting the game passing the heck out of the ball at the back and seeing how many times we can set the opposition up with good situations.
We badly miss Brad Hubbold's vision and passing in midfield.
I've been impressed with Jordan Palmer when he's given a chance. Same with Bobby Carroll. I'd also like to see Reuben Jerome played at 9 and left there unless he needs a rest from time to time, he has some pace and puts in a shift.

Was it a bad penalty? FFS, is the pope a Catholic? Just pass the bloody thing high into a corner or blast it high down the middle. And practice doing it. It's not fucking hard really. Kicking the ball into the keeper's legs is utterly woeful.
