Looks like Reds did their best to lose in the last few minutes at Colne but managed to hang on and claim a 2-3 victory. We are all way too familiar with the nerves that come along with being a Reds' fan. A welcome three points in the end though and now trail Leek by only one point.
Back on the road again, this time to lowly Widnes.
Widnes are 18th with 34 points from 33 games
Reds are 3rd with 66 points from 33 games
Widnes at home 6-4-6
Reds away 11-2-3
Recent Widnes results:
25 March Rams 0-0 Widnes
21 March Widnes 0-2 Leek
10 March Widnes 3-0 City of Liverpool
4 March Trafford 2-0 Widnes
25 Feb Widnes 1-0 Hanley
18 Feb Witton 1-2 Widnes
11 Feb Clitheroe 4-2 Widnes
7 Feb Prescot 0-1 Widnes
4 Feb Widnes 4-1 Mossley
Widnes overall since 1 Feb 5-1-3
Reds overall since 1 Feb 7-1-3
Although they have been battling relegation all season, Widnes' results have picked up of late. The have won 16 of the last 27 points available. A week before our defeat at City of Liverpool, Widnes beat them 3-0. Indeed Widnes they have won 3 of their last 4 home matches, although they lost their last one to Leek.
Reds only need one more point to lock in a play off berth. Two more points will lock in 3rd position and a home semi final.
Other top of the table fixtures:
Macclesfield (1st) v Trafford
Clitheroe (4th) v Leek (2nd)
Kidsgrove v Runcorn (5th)
Witton Albion (6th) v Skem)
Witton are making a late run for the play offs and subsequently could be a potential opponent. They also visit Borough Park on 8 April. The remainder of the season is likely to see Reds and Leek fighting it out for second place.
Come on you Reds
