It would help preserve his legacy. If not the board should do the right thing and sack him. It's not going to harm anything is it? And will that be the last time we see Tinners?

Not quite sure what that would actually achieve at this stage. Yes Reds are on a poor run but taking the season overall, the injuries, the retirement of Goose andthe lackof money to strengthen the squad all impacted (albeit with hindsight the Jamie Devitt signing proved a disaster/disappointment even thoughmlogic was right) We have established ourselves in NPL Premier this season and now we need to rebuild the squad in close season by backing Mark Fell.

I don't see any benefit in sacking Grainger now. We'd have to pay his wages until the end of the season and then start paying Mark Fell early if he was available to begin early.
8 weeks ago 95%+ would all have loved to have seen Danny sign an extension. However DGs departure is now looking like a blessing in disguise. It would have been interesting to see what the board would have done had nothing been said and DG was willing to negotiate a new deal.
For me overall,I think Danny's 4 years have been a success and for the most part a pleasure to watch. However parts of this season have not been good enough especially the last 6 games. So with poor results and the poor quality football of late then I think if he wasn't already going lots would be calling for so. Another major factor would be the huge rebuild the squad needs for next season. DG struggled to recruit players in pre season. Likely down to our location and inability to pay crazy wages but other managers have always seemed to manage. Hopefully Mark Fell can fair better in this department next season.

We have hardly 'established ourselves.' We are a bottom end of the table team and it will take a massive effort to improve next season. I don't envy Mr Fell his job - I'd keep just 2 of today's starting eleven.

I think it’s obvious through Danny Grainger comments in the last few interviews that he hasn’t been happy with a few things around the club most likely wanting more budget to keep or attract players mid season, keeps repeating his brief was to keep the club in this division. Can’t blame the club in this respect as I assume any budget was agreed in the summer It’s a sad end to a few good seasons but the long term interests of the club are the most important thing, hopefully we can attract new investors and the new ground can get up and running as we are competing with a lot of clubs with bigger budgets allegedly

By the sound of Danny they have cut his budget. He keeps saying things have changed in the last couple months. I would say thats why he is leaving. Interesting to see if next seasons budget is cut.

Sounds like we desperately need a commercial manager or someone to bring in extra non match day revenue.

Seems a bit harsh on a bloke that got us promoted last season, and managed to maintain our level this season. Things have gone about a bit south lately granted, but surely we should do an appraisal on the manger over the years, not just the last few weeks?
Thanks Danny for all your hard work over the years.

Got to agree with that Peter. Danny’s teams have been entertaining and fully-committed throughout his tenures. Having won us a promotion and in any fair-minded person’s perspective- won us a championship at the highest level the club have ever achieved. Obviously the league thought differently and that is now history. Attendances have improved as well, so DG is not leaving us in a bad place on or off the pitch. I’m frustrated with recent results, mainly because this group of players have so much talent, I can’t really see any value in having a pop at the players and management at this stage of the season and with a management change looming. The culture at a club really matters, for instance, I can’t imagine someone as talented as Scott Allison stopping at the club for so long, unless he actually liked the club? Nothing wrong with criticism and different opinions- but it needs to be balanced with all the good we have seen as well.

Too many injuries and next to no and bad recruitment have finally caught up with us.The new manager says he has been left with a team on sound foundations, think he is being very diplomatic.

It is to Danny’s credit that he doesn’t resign (I am sure he has been tempted) and I would be disgusted if the board even considered sacking him.
I was hugely disappointed when it was announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season. Danny has produced successful football teams who have played better football than any Reds teams that I have seen in the last 30+ years. He is an extremely talented coach, he has been fully committed and he has done an excellent job.
The last few weeks have been a tough watch and the reasons as to why it has unravelled so badly are probably numerous. There can be questions about Danny’s role in that, but there are lots of others that should be looking in the mirror and taking some responsibility.
The truth is that in a couple of weeks, Danny’s role at the Reds will be in the past. His record will be a successful one and he should be proud of that.
As supporters we have lots of things to be concerned about, but our departing manager is not one of them.
