At half time on Saturday, it looked as though the new year could start off just like our season did - with three points. Unfortunately not to be as another two goals were conceded in the second half. Three points would have been handy as Reds no embark on two of the toughest matches of the season. The first of those takes Reds to top of the table Radcliffe who have won 10 of their 12 home fixtures so far.
Radcliffe are 1st with 48 points from 21 games
Reds are 15th with 32 points from 25 games
Radcliffe at home 10-0-2
Reds away 2-4-7
Recent Radcliffe results:
26 Dec Radcliffe 3-0 Bradford PA
23 Dec Hyde 3-1 Radcliffe
16 Dec Radcliffe 2-3 Rylands
12 Dec Radcliffe 4-0 Redditch (FAT3R)
5 Dec Radcliffe 1-2 Padiham (Lancashire FACT2R)
25 Nov Radcliffe 3-2 Bamber Bridge
21 Nov Radcliffe 0-1 Whitby
18 Nov Farsley Celtic 2-4 Radcliffe (FAT2R)
14 Nov Morpeth 2-3 Radcliffe
11 Nov Radcliffe 1-0 Gainsborough
4 Nov Matlock 4-0 Radcliffe
Radcliffe overall since 1 Nov 7-0-4
Reds overall since 1 Nov 3-7-2
Despite Radcliffe flying high at the top of the league, there are some positives that Reds can take from the stats:
After winning their first 8 home league games at home, Radcliffe have lost two of the previous four.
Radcliffe have lost two of their previous three games.
In their last six home fixtures overall, Radcliffe's record is 3-0-3
Radcliffe are through to FATR4 and host Barnet on 13 January. They will have one eye on that game.
So if ever there was a 'Less bad' time to visit Radcliffe, it could very well be now.
Reds have the second worst defence in the league conceding 55 times. Only Atherton have conceded more at 61.
Reds are the joint 2nd highest scorers (behind Radcliffe 59) having scored 51 times (same as Worksop)
Reds have now been involved in 106 goals over their 25 fixtures, the highest in the league.
Reds are 9 points from a play off berth and 13 clear of relegation.
Although this would appear to be a really difficult trip for Reds, the stats above would suggest it is not quite a lost cause. Can we bring something back from Radcliffe? Here's hoping.
Come on you Reds
