Anyone else a bit puzzled by the use of Facebook to provide match updates? it has just filled my facebook timeline with stuff from the last match even days later. It also obscures actual club announcements for some reason for me, all i can see is Reds 3-1 down at radcliffe have a throw or something. Considering we have an actual live scoreboard service and these post to twitter for the key points is this adding any value? is there 2 volunteers doing basically the same job? What gap is it actually filling? or what is it trying to drive?
Surely communications is all about chosing an appropriate channel? Facebook works more like a website for information and you want to post your important news articles (Less is more kind of approach for max impact), where as Twitter is better suited for short text strings like match updates. I basically cannot see the wood for the trees with the sheer number of facebook posts that happen when its used for this purpose.
Edit - this is not to dump on anyone at the club for providing this if there is a genuine need, this is just my honest observation - Also i could still see the club announcements on Instagram as i have both so i didnt actually miss anything but not everyone has instagram

Sorry for the delay in replying but I've just seen this now. Basically we've just introduced 2 new volunteers for our Socials platform. A job that took 4 months to find someone unfortunately. As a starter for 10 we gave them a bit of a carte blanche to introduce things that they thought would appeal (within reason) and that is the phase we are in now. We will continue to monitor the situation and respond to feedback accordingly once we have had a bit more time. It's a work in progress. The whole idea is to increase engagement and to be fair numbers are on the up so in general it's going in the right direction. Thanks for the feedback I have taken your point on board.
