DG has credit in the bank but this season's recruitment has been very poor. It's a bit embarrassing keep taking kids from Carlisle and expecting them to be good enough in a man's league. Did we try to keep Bunney? We were unlucky with Brookwell & Goose but as previously pointed out the squad is weaker than last season especially as Jerome has never been adequately replaced. I think it's been a case of we take what we can. Good players don't need to travel to Workington to make the kind of wages we can offer. If you are Manchester based making £200 a week you are going to need close to double that to make the journeys to Penrith and Workington worthwhile. Realistically how many lads can we have on those wages? IMO we need to bring in an assistant manager who has the contacts to bring players in. I love the idea of Tinnion being kept around the club but it's doubtful he can offer much in the way of recruitment. Seen a few people criticising our young loans but Hetherington & Nelson have been fantastic. My guess is the other lads we've taken are unlikely to be given pro deals and so we are taking a look with regards to next season. As I've pointed out above we are pretty desperate to find local lads that are upto this league. As a club we MUST do as much as possible to bring Cumbrian lads through to the 1st team. We probably want a squad of around 20 players. I'd say 14 or more of them need to be Cumbrian based to make the wage bill somewhere near affordable. |

Well said there needs to be some realism as-to where we are, what we can attract by way of players. In this league there are some hardened experienced Pros and a realistic longer term plan cos it will not happen overnight that is certain

I'm sorry but that's absolutely bollocks. We were not crap apart.... from creating chances a Nd scoring goals. Which is what it's all about. well I wish I had been at the same match has you .the one I was watching was a 100% crap Try going to BP next time then. |
