Last week's trip to Hyde was always going to be hard. Sounds like we could have gone 0-1 up but promptly conceded. Given Hyde's free goalscoring antics over the previous games, I suppose conceding two was not too bad in the scheme of things. However, we move on and host Bradford PA in what could well be classed as a typical Reds' banana skin.
Reds are 13th with 34 points from 28 games BPA are 20th with 17 points from 28 games
Reds at home 6-6-2 BPA away 2-4-9
Recent BPA results: 3 Feb Rylands 2-3 BPA 27 Jan BPA 2-3 Lancaster 20 Jan Hyde Utd 5-0 BPA 15 Jan BPA 1-3 Marine 13 Jan BPA 2-4 FCUM 6 Jan Morpeth 2-1 BPA 1 Jan BPA 0-1 Guiseley 26 Dec Radcliffe 3-0 BPA 23 Dec BPA 0-3 Bamber Bridge 16 Dec Macclesfield 3-4 BPA 9 Dec BPA 1-2 Atherton Collieries
Reds overall since 1 Dec 2-7-3 BPA overall since 1 Dec 2-0-9
Bradford's two victories in their last 11 fixtures have both come away - at Macclesfield on 16 Dec, and at Rylands last time out! Some irony in that amongst their other 9 defeats.
At 61 conceded, Bradford are one of only three teams who have a worse defence than Reds (59) At 32 scored, they have the fourth weakest attack in the league. At 54, Reds have the fourth best attack in the league.
Reds are 13 points adrift of a play off berth, and 16 points clear of relegation.
The reverse fixture on 23 Sept ended BPA 1-2 Reds.
On paper, this should be three points. But we all know games are not won on paper, and Reds have a certain charitable record when it comes to struggling teams. Here's hoping this is a banana free zone and turns into the first home league win since 23 December when Reds defeated Ilkeston 4-1.
Come on you Reds

I can never look at this fixture without thinking of Les Massie, wearing his bumper ( baseball ) boots on a semi frozen Borough Park pitch. TBH not even sure it was against Bradford, although they were one of his former clubs.

Depressing week, depressing Saturday. Only the superb Borough Park faithfull (714) providing a little light to brighten up the gloom. Hopefully, our unbeaten run during November and December will see us safe.

That was the worst reds performance under grainger. Our build up play was too slow and most of the time we ended up passing to a bradford player.

Nowhere near good enough that today. Worst I've seen us for a very very long time. No win yet in 2024 and we are starting to look down the table once again. Huge reaction needed at Lancaster.
Only positive to take from today was game time for Reilly and Roxburgh.

Crap from 1-11 unfortunately. I don't think Bradford were great, but they took two chances well. Hopefully just a blip.
Good to see Reilly back, hopefully Hubbold and Carroll aren't far behind.

I'm sorry but that's absolutely bollocks. We were not crap apart.... from creating chances a Nd scoring goals. Which is what it's all about.

Painfully slow, predictable build up play. To much tippy tappy sidewards backwards football & not enough attempt to get at the Bradford defence. Very poor preformance against limited opposition

According to the manager we made 4 clear cut chances today,i must have been watching a different game and the football we played moving the opposition around to tire them out sure did work, they were falling asleep.

I have just seen Danny's interview and I agree with him with regards to the way he plays, best footy I've seen since starting watching the reds in the 90's
But come on, does he really think we are going to compete with a weaker squad in the level above.
Losing niall is massive and I'll say it again recruitment has been horrendous, be it lack of money, geographical location etc.
Been to most games this season home and away and the increase in standard is massive. Just hope we can build a squad to kick on next season, but not sure loaning of 17, 18 year olds is the best solution.

Agree that this was probably the worst home performance under Danny grainger, we looked jaded and badly out of ideas hopefully a minor blip but really need a reaction at Lancaster because we dont want to be looking over our shoulders and getting dragged into a last few week relegation scrap

DG has credit in the bank but this season's recruitment has been very poor. It's a bit embarrassing keep taking kids from Carlisle and expecting them to be good enough in a man's league. Did we try to keep Bunney? We were unlucky with Brookwell & Goose but as previously pointed out the squad is weaker than last season especially as Jerome has never been adequately replaced.
