Great to read that Reds played well at Lancaster. The vagaries of playing well against better teams, yet losing to strugglers such as Gainsborough, Atherton and more recently Bradford PA, is, as someone once said..... like the changing of the seasons and the tides of the sea.
With Matlock's game against Gainsborough postponed midweek, it means Reds are in a log jam of 5 teams all on 35 points. Matlock also being one of those five.
Reds are 14th with 35 points from 30 games Matlock are 13th with 35 points from 27 games
Reds at home 6-6-3 Matlock away 5-1-9
Recent Matlock results: 17 Feb Matlock 0-0 Worksop 10 Feb Rylands 1-0 Matlock 3 Feb Lancaster 1-0 Matlock 27 Jan Matlock 3-0 FCUM 13 Jan Atherton 1-3 Matlock 9 Jan Matlock 1-2 Macclesfield 30 Dec Matlock 1-3 Stafford 26 Dec Ilkeston 0-1 Matlock 23 Dec Matlock 1-1 Morpeth 16 Dec Bamber Bridge 2-1 Matlock
Reds overall since 1 Dec 2-8-4 Matlock overall since 1 Dec 3-2-5
Matlock's goal record is 43-49 = -6 Reds goals record is 55-62 = -7
Reds are 15 points adrift of a play off berth, and 14 points clear of relegation.
The reverse fixture at Matlock was on 14 Oct Matlock 2-2 Reds.
Reds haven't won at home since 23 Dec. Reds 4-1 Ilkeston. Since then 3 draws followed by the defeat to Bradford PA.
Reds have drawn the most fixtures in the league - 11. Same number as Bamber Bridge and Rylands.
Of the current five teams in the '35 points club,' Reds have played the most games - 30. As such, this game probably comes under the banner of a six pointer.
Come on you Reds

I will be kind.
I don't like teams who have supporters with a drum.

We never make it easy but great performance today. Should have been 4 or 5. Thought all 3 of the Carlisle loans did very well. Really impressed with Jake Allan's first start. Casson probably MOM for me but Riggy, Smith and Little also fantastic. Thought Scotty Al had a decent game but just cannot seem to find the net ATM.

Story of our season in many ways, how we didnt score at least 5 was beyond belief, most of the missed chances being easier to score. Good to finally get over the line but had we been more ruthless over the season we’d be in the playoff mix. Luckily matlock were so bad we got away with all the misses
