With 6 games to go, Reds are mathematically 2 points from safety. It is highly likely that we are already safe, but never a certainty until the maths say so. I know there are a variety of opinions as to how the season has gone, but my two cents is that no relegation battle equals a good start to life at a higher level and I would have taken this on day one. Should we win today, then safety will be guaranteed.
Stafford Rangers have been long term opposition in various non leagues since 1977. Unless they can win a few games before the end of the season however, they could find themselves down a level next season. They did win last time out, so still have some hope of avoiding the drop.
Stafford are 20th with 24 points from 34 games
Reds are 16th with 41 points from 34 games
Stafford at home 4-2-11
Reds away 3-5-9
Recent Stafford results:
23 March Bamber Bridge 0-2 Stafford
19 March Stafford 1-3 Macclesfield
16 March Stafford 0-3 Radcliffe
2 March Bradford PA 1-0 Stafford
24 Feb Stafford 2-1 Guiseley
17 Feb Hyde 1-1 Stafford
27 Jan Stafford 0-2 Ilkeston
20 Jan Stafford 0-2 Worksop
13 Jan Marine 4-0 Stafford
6 Jan Stafford 0-1 Basford
Stafford overall since 1 Jan 2-1-7
Reds overall since 1 Jan 3-4-5
Reds can no longer make the play offs but do require 2 points for safety.
The reverse fixture was at Borough Park on 26 August when Reds prevailed 2-1. Back then Reds were 21st and Stafford were 9th having won 2 and lost 2.
Stafford will be buoyed by their victory at Bamber Bridge last weekend. Their first victory in four games.
Reds have lowly Atherton next, but then finish with a run of four matches against teams all vying for a play off berth so mathematical security would be welcomed over the next couple of games.
Come on you Reds
