Bank Holiday Monday. Crowd over 1000 for the first time in a while. Reds hosting bottom of the league. A team with only two away victories all season and a defence that has leaked 84 goals. As if written in the script, Reds manage to go 0-3 down before scoring 2 late consolation goals. Yet another charitable donation. As it turned out however, any further punishment was avoided thanks to other results out of our control and safety in this league was somewhat ironically mathematically guaranteed.
And so we head into the final four games of the season all of which are 'live' games for each opponent as they each chase a play off berth.
First of the four is a trip to Worksop Town.
Worksop are 7th with 58 points from 35 games
Reds are 15th with 41 points from 36 games
Worksop at home 12-3-3
Reds away 3-5-10
Recent Worksop results:
1 April Basford Utd 3-1 Worksop
30 March Worksop 1-0 HYde Utd
23 March Bradford PA 1-2 Worksop
16 March Worksop 1-0 Macclesfield
9 March Ashton Utd 2-0 Worksop
24 Feb Worksop 2-4 Bamber Bridge
17 Feb Matlock 0-0 Worksop
10 Feb Worksop 1-1 Radcliffe
3 Feb Worksop 1-0 Ashton Utd
Worksop overall since 1 Feb 4-0-3
Reds overall since 1 Feb 2-1-6
Worksop have the second best home record in the league. Only Basford Utd (two) have won fewer times on the road than Reds.
Worksop have the second best defence in the league with only 41 goals conceded. Reds have the 5th best attack having scored 64. That's actually two more goals than Worksop have scored.
Although Worksop are 7th, they have games in hand and could move into a play off berth if they win these matches in hand.
The reverse fixture was a 3-3 draw back on 12 December.
We know all too well that Reds struggle against poor teams. Maybe we can better against a good one.
Come on you Reds
