Reds will defend their CCC title against Carlisle Utd at Borough Park. Winning the trophy by defeating Penrith in last year's edition, Reds are likely to undergo a stern test against the only football league team in the county. Relegated after one year in League One, Carlisle will be keen to put a trophy in their own cabinet.
Carlisle's run in the CC: 5 March SF Carlisle 13-0 Whitehaven Miner's Social 30 Jan QF Penrith 1-4 Carlisle 8 Nov 2R Aspatria 1-4 Carlisle 26 Sept 1R Carlisle City 1-1 Carlisle Utd (2-4 penalties)
After an early scare at Carlisle City, goals have been plentiful for Utd in subsequent rounds.
I'm not sure of the rules - 90 minutes and then penalties? Or extra time first?
Come on you Reds

Carroll, Nelson and Hubbold out for the season Little will be cup tied and Roxburgh doubtful, I wonder if the manager kept in touch with the lads he sent out on duel reg earlier in the season. Matty Bell , Lewis Moore and Conor Hamill all played in an early round also Zak Lester who now plays at Cleator Moor, maybe worth giving one or two a chance to impress on Tuesday night

Peter, try as we might to forget it, but Barra are - for now at least - in the football league. Of course we can hope that next year both Barra and the other lot are relegated. But for now...

finbaar - you are correct. Good pick up. Why do they not take part in CCC I wonder? Do they play in Lancashire CC?

Finbaar's quite right about Barrow being in Cumbria. However I've never acknowledged Cumbria as a county, so quite right that Barrow aren't in the Cumberland Cup! 😂 😂

Gretna played in the county cup for a lot of years

Annan Athletic also played in the Cumberland Cup for many years and are past winners of the trophy along with Gretna. They were eligible as they were members of the Cumberland County FA which also enabled them to play in the Carlisle & District League. A few other teams from Dumfriesshire have competed too such as Hearts of Liddlesdale FC from Newcastleton and I recall Eastriggs FC doing likewise.
Barrow play in the Lancashire FA Trophy as members of the Lancashire FA which historically Furness was a part of until 1974. Ironically Reds were also members of the Lancashire County FA when our reserves played in the Lancashire League.
Kendal Town compete in the Westmorland County Cup again due to historical affiliation with the former Lakeland county of Westmorland.

I'm assuming ticket sales from tonight go mainly to the FA but reds will be able to keep food, drink and any other match day income? Could be a nice little bonus for the club

Barrow play in the Lancashire Senior Cup. They have reached this season's final which will be played prior to next season against Burnley Under 21s. This is a repeat of the 2022/23 Final which was played prior to this season...not at all confusing! Burnley are the holders.
The Lancashire FA Trophy which was mentioned above is for non league teams affiliated to the Lancashire FA.

Cracking result and fitting that Scotty got the goal. Fingers crossed for a win on Saturday to see out Danny's reign and give a positive send off for Tinners and Scotty

Best performance I've seen from us in a while. We went a little more direct than usual, but our attitude was spot on, we absolutely bullied Carlisle, defended well and were dangerous on the break.
Allison deserved his goal for being an absolute pain to defend from minute one, but McCaragher and Riggy also stood out.
Carlisle looked exactly what they were - a group of kids and a bunch of relegated senior pros, who probably know that was their last game for them. The only positive for them (and us!) was Sam Hetherington

Great performance last night, played with passion and totally wanted it more than the blues, can’t fault anyone great to see a few young lads playing and to be honest looking as good if not better than their equivalent age group in the Carlisle team ,we need to find some way to nurture these sort of players in order to make them npl standard. However it was the old guard who really stood out Smith, Tinnion, Rigg and of course Allison. It’s been a privilege to watch Scott and Connor over the years and will be a massive miss hope the other two commit to next season

We need to keep a nucleus of Cumbrian players and with lots of the current squad retiring or in and around their 30s we need to start to bring through the next generation of players. Close links with Carlisle City and Penrith could help but ideally game time in the NPL is what these lads need if and when they are ready.
