Apparently the Blyth chairman has announced that they will have a squad of 8 to 10 contracted players & will make the rest up with non- contract players out of their u23 & u21 team. Safe to say that the fan base are not happy & are already predicting a long season ahead. Looks like they want the clubs owner out & are questioning his reasons for being there.

Are you quoting this from the "Spartans Chairman" account on twitter? I think that is a parody account created by a disgruntled fan

I was yes. However check out Green Army (Blyth Spartans ) on facebook. All is not well in the North East parody account or not.

Yeah the fans aren't happy but relegation will always get fans feeling that way. Think they're being a bit impatient. Pretty sure theyl have a much bigger squad than ours is currently but as Mark Fell has pointed out it's difficult tying players down before pre season. Loads will be trying their hands at bigger clubs or looking for higher wages.

I think Blyth have been struggling for a good few years, they probably should have been relegated a while ago, but covid and some last game heroics kept them up. Historically they were the biggest non league club in the North East with many of the clubs happy to stay in the Northern League but the emergence of the South Shields, Spennymoors, Morpeth Towns and demotion of Darlington (although a few years ago) has really made the area a lot more competitive.
