The facts show Reds have won three on the bounce. And scored 11 times. Two cup wins and a place in FAT4QR for the first time in four years.
After the cup ventures though, it’s back to the main focus of league football for the first time in three weeks.
Long term foes Ilkeston Town provide the latest opposition and are likely to be a stern test.
Reds are 14th with 12 points from 11 games Ilkeston are 6th with 19 points from 11 games
Reds at home 2-3-1 Ilkeston away 3-1-2
Recent Ilkeston results: 8 Oct Morpeth Town 1-2 Ilkeston 5 Oct Ilkeston 2-3 Coleshill Town (FAT3QR) 28 Sept Ilkeston 2-2 Ashton Utd 21 Sept Leek Town 1-3 Ilkeston 17 Sept Ilkeston 0-1 Hereford (FAC2QRr) 14 Sept Hereford 1-1 Ilkeston (FAC2QR) 10 Sept Worksop Town 2-0 Ilkeston 7 Sept Ilkeston 5-1 Whitby Town 31 Aug Heanor Town 0-1 Ilkeston (FAC1QR) 26 Aug Basford Utd 2-1 Ilkeston 24 Aug Ilkeston 2-1 Bamber Bridge 20 Aug ilkeston 1-1 Macclesfield 17 Aug FCUM 1-1 Ilkeston 13 Aug Mickleover 1-3 Ilkeston 10 Aug Ilkeston 2-2 Gainsborough Trinity
Reds overall this season 5-3-6 Ilkeston overall this season 5-5-3
Ilkeston didn’t lose until their 6th outing of the season. They will be disappointed with their cup interests though. After a draw at Hereford in the FAC, they lost at home in the replay. And last weekend fell at the first hurdle in FAT.
Back to the league and their two away defeats have come at top ten teams. Basford are currently 9th,and Worksop are flying high in 2nd.
Come on you Reds
Preview coming from the Pacific Ocean. About 350 miles south of the Equator, heading for Tahiti.

Tough fixture but hopefully some tired legs in the Ilkeston side after their game midweek. COYR

Great result — game could have went either way, wind played a part. I think Ilkeston will be disappointed not to get anything, but we did well to hang on. Two tough away games to come now, hopefully we can keep up the good run.

What a great day. Reds win in bloody awful conditions, my it was cold in that wind. And Morecambe beat Barra, ha ha , which took them off the bottom of league two. Because Wimbledon destroyed Carlisle. Ha ha ha. I'm very happy tonight.

I think we probably just about deserved that. They missed a few sitters, but we still looked dangerous ourselves. We adapted better to the wind and were professional seeing out the 35633 minutes of injury time the ref decided to add.
Two cracking finishes by Riggy, well worth watching the YouTube highlights for.
The bench was a bit short today... I know Casson's injured, but what about the two from Carlisle? Have the Gateshead lads both definitely gone back now?

Scrappy game but fantastic result, haven’t seen a game for a long time where the referee constantly allows tackles from behind from both teams, be some sore bodies in the morning. Lads dug in well but don’t know how long you can keep that Ambrose/Swinglehurst partnership together. Two great finishes from Rigg worth the admission on its own. In reply to the above Mark Fell has said that the Gateshead lads had left and Fitzpatrick travelled with the Carlisle squad, think Jake Allen must be injured

The condition where bad to play football ,so the result matters more than the performance. Think the Gatehead lads have con back. Jake is injuerd Fitzpatrick i think he played in a outh game today with carlisle. Like westworld said our C/b pair will not work

Realistically 15 points from 12 games from a side that was totally rebuilt during the summer is promising progress. One cant forget the away defeats at Blyth and Matlock but if Reds can address the away form the future is bright. One game at a time and great to see the crowd of over 800 today too

Thought we did well today. Just about deserved it in tough conditions and defended very well 2nd half. Riggy superb, as was Jordan little. Would like to know why Fitzpatrick played for Carlisle under 18s? Does the new gaffa at Carlisle not value the experience of playing in the NPL? Agree on the comments about the CBS, we could do with at least 1 CB having a bit more pace. 4 wins on the trott though, don't think we managed that last season so 🤞 we can keep the momentum going and pick something up from the 2 tricky away games. COYR!

thought ilkeston looked a decent team, pleased that we got the win with a real fighting performance. jordan little put in a great shift,Riggy has been really good all season but the player i would single out is young kamara he was everywhere, he will be a big miss when his loan ends only hope we can keep him for the season.

Good result, defensively at times looked like trouble waiting to happen, but done well in the 2nd half. Not often you see replays before waiting for the highlights but it was nice of Rigg to score the same goal twice if you missed the first. Thought Kamara was fantastic though all game, got around the pitch well, and showed great quality!
