A last minute winner inflicting a first defeat on Clitheroe takes our winning run to five on the bounce. It also lifted us above Clitheroe and into second place. Ossett Utd are struggling at the bottom of the table. What could possibly go wrong? ;-/
Ossett Utd are 16th with 4 points from 7 games Reds are 2nd with 15 points from 7 games
Ossett Utd at home 1-0-2 Reds away 1-2-0
Recent Ossett Utd results: 20 Oct Marske 1-1 Ossett 13 Oct Ossett 3-2 Widnes 10 Oct Ramsbottom 2-1 Ossett 6 Oct Pickering 2-1 Ossett 3 Oct Ossett 0-1 Colne 29 Sept Ossett 0-2 Dunston 26 Sept Ossett 0-2 Ramsbottom (FAT1QR) 19 Sept Mossley 2-0 Ossett 12 Sept Consett 2-2 Ossett (FACPR) (5-4 pens)
Ossett overall 1-2-6 Reds overall 6-3-1
Ossett have conceded twice in 7 of their 9 games played so far. A win today will see us take over at the top of the table as Dunston's match at Mossley has been postponed due to Covid 19. Prescot v Pickering has suffered the same fate.
Other matches today include:
Colne (5th) v City of Liverpool Kendal v Runcorn (undefeated 7th) Tadcaster v Rams (4th)
Reds winning has become a welcome habit. Here's hoping it continues. Come on you Reds.

Just a word of warning to any avid Reds programme collectors. I understand Ossett are not printing any physical programmes tomorrow, and will be doing an online digital version only.

Back home now reflecting on a what turned into a comfortable win for us. Good to see Connor starting the game and playing well into the second half.

I listened to the match commentary on Osset's radio in which the match commentator could not believe that we were 2nd in the league as we had shown nothing in the game to indicate our lofty position. He describe Scotty's goal as a bit of a fluke after it hit his knee and went in. and infact stated that all three of our goals were "soft" after poor Ossett defending!. At the end of the match I listened to John Walsh. He stated that Reds played well and fully deserved the 3 points after 3 very good goals, especially the volley from Scottie. Anyway we won in pouring rain. So well done o the invincible Reds and onwards and upwards. COYR

First thirty minutes was pretty dire, but once Scotty scored the opener we simply took control. Some of the passing movements we put together were unbelievably good, and all three goals were indeed well taken. If the Osset radio commentator couldn't believe we were second in the league then he/she needs to look at their own team. They were a poor side. Scotty was brilliant throughout, and was my man of the match. Connor isn't there yet, and gave the ball away several times. Just think how good we'll be when he is up to speed. Just before kick-off a local said to me 'watch this ref. we've had him several times and he's crap'. True to form he was. He must have been on some sort of commission for every card he dished out. Overall, good performance by the Reds, good result, and a well deserved three points.

The sort of away performance that we’ve cried out for for years. Held firm for the first half hour whilst Ossett looked the most likely to score, and absorbed any sort of pressure they put on us.
As with most sides in this league we were fitter than them, and the more the first half wore on, the more they tired, which was when we clickee into gear and struck.
Goals either side of half time completely killed the game off and knocked the stuffing out of them. In the end 3-0 flattered Ossett and it couldve very easily ended up as 5/6.

The red card was deserved though.

Heard an Ossett fan comment that we weren't as good as last year which is strange as we are 1 point better off than the same number of games last season, scored 2 more goals and unbeaten.
It was one of them games where the opposition threw everything they had at us from the off and how we coped really determined the outcome. For all their pressure and closing down Ossett's only chance before we scored was a header straight at Jim from a corner. We were struggling to get hold of the ball and losing it in midfield a lot and they were getting forward on the counter. We slowly got into the game and 40 mins on it was all Reds really. First goal from a counter attack and great finish by Scotty, 2nd some superb link up play (I don't think you can say poor defending either) with Carroll squaring nicely for Jerome. 3rd from a corner game done by the hour mark.
Some ridiculous yellow cards given out and generally poor decisions all round for both sides. Ref gave the one from Tuesday a run for her money, only difference she let everything go and this guy stop play for everything.
Bad knock to Jerome and Sam Smith seemed to hurt his groin and had to go off so hope they are not missing as both crucial players. Jerome again had a quiet first half but he just seems to pop up and get a goal. We've had plenty of strikers in the past who have done nowt and then not even scored to compensate so I don't mind it if that's how he is and he gets 20 goals
As Irvo says deffo should have been more goals, perhaps not at least 4 for sure but for a great block preventing scotty's 2nd. Jay Kelly also skied one from about 4 yards out after Scotty played him in.
