Thanks to our equaliser on Saturday we will be in the hat on Monday. Whether our not we feature in the next round now comes down to a replay at league leaders Marine. The replay will go to extra time if needed and subsequently penalties if needed.
Our scheduled league fixture for 24 August at Warrington Rylands will be rearranged.
In some fixture quirks, this will actually be Marine's first match at home this season having played their opening two league fixtures away. It also means that these two teams will meet three times in a week as we host Marine for the second Saturday running in the league on 28 August. A slighter longer bow, but given this tie is now tow legs, for those who are old enough to remember; we played Marine in the 83/84 NPL President's Cup Final. A two legged fixture, the 1-1 at Marine was followed up with a 0-0 at Borough Park. Reds finished up winners on away goals AET.
We didn't visit Marine in either of the previous two curtailed seasons. Our last visit there was 23 Feb 2019 when Reds had a 0-2 victory.
Recent Marine results:
21 Aug Reds 1-1 Marine (FACPR)
17 Aug Ramsbottom 0-3 Marine
14 Aug Newcastle Town 1-3 Marine
After three outings, Reds are yet to concede from open play. Our only goal conceded so far was the Marine penalty.
Prize money for this fixture is £1444 for the winners and £481 for the losers. Winner will be away to Dunston in FAC1QR. Dunston were in our league but transferred to the East division. Dunston won 1-2 at Newcastle Benfield in FACPR
FAC1QR ties are scheduled for 4 September.
Thanks for the compliments over recent postings. Living overseas means I am unable to offer any physical help to the Club, so it is my pleasure if I can do my bit on here to inform and generate some interest amongst fellow fans.
Come on you Reds.
