Well it had to happen sometime, and sometime happened to be at Warrington Rylands where Reds lost for the first time in the league. It was game number 12 in the league. Having suffered our first league defeat however, our focus is moved to the start of a hopefully elongated run in the FAT. A cup run in the FAC was curtailed early in the season with the replay loss at Marine in FACPR, so here's hoping we can stay involved in FAT for somewhat longer. Marine by the way won their FAC3QR replay v Atherton Collieries, and being first out of the hat are tie number 1 v Wrexham in FAC4QR.
So we host Dunston in FAT2QR who were recently in the same North West Division as Reds. That is until they were 'transferred' to the East league for this season.
Reds are 1st with 27 points from 12 games (West Division)
Dunston are 8th with 13 points from 9 games (East Division)
Reds at home in the league 4-2-0
Dunston away in the league 1-1-3
Recent Dunston results:
2 Oct Dunston 2-1 Ossett Utd
25 Sept Dunston 3-2 Worksop (FAT1QR)
18 Sept Dunston 6-0 Frickley Athletic
15 Sept Stockton 3-0 Dunston
11 Sept Liversedge 2-0 Dunston
4 Sept Dunston 1-2 Marine (FAC1QR)
Reds overall since 1 Sept 4-3-1
Dunston overall since 1 Sept 3-0-3
Dunston have won twice on the road this season; 21 Aug FACPR Newcastle Benfield 1-2 Dunston and 24 Aug in the league at Tadcaster 1-2 Dunston. Since then, they have lost all three games away from home.
Prizemoney available is £2250 for the winners and £575 for the losers. Winners go into the hat for FAT3QR where monies on offer are £2450 for winners and £625 for losers.
I think matches go to straight to penalties - no extra time but happy for someone to confirm.
Hopefully we can maintain our unbeaten run at home and navigate our way through this tie into the hat for the next round. Come on you Reds.
