A draw at Newcastle Town may be another point added to the collection, but on paper this should have been three. With no midweek football this week, it will be a long wait now until this home game v Runcorn Linnets. The glass half full story is that we are still top of the league and undefeated at home in the league. The half empty story is that our pole position is now in peril on four fronts, with Warrington Rylands, Mossley, Marine and today's opponents Runcorn Linnets all able to topple us due to their games in hand.
Reds are 1st with 28 points from 13 games Runcorn are 7th with 22 points from 10 games
Reds at home 4-2-0 Runcorn away 2-0-2
Recent Runcorn results: 16 Oct Runcorn 4-0 Ramsbottom 12 Oct Runcorn 2-0 Newcastle Town 9 Oct Tadcaster Albion 1-5 Runcorn (FAT2QR) 2 Oct Runcorn 2-3 Gateshead (FAC3QR) 28 Sept Runcorn 3-3 City of Liverpool 18 Sept Runcorn 3-1 Bamber Bridge (FAC2QR) 14 Sept Bootle 2-1 Runcorn 11 Sept Clitheroe 1-2 Runcorn 7 Sept Runcorn 4-0 Kidsgrove 4 Sept Runcorn 2-0 Liversedge (FAC1QR)
Reds overall since 1 Sept 5-4-2 Runcorn overall since 1 Sept 7-1-2
Runcorn's only slip ups in that list would really be the loss at Bootle and dropped points at home to City of Liverpool. They are a team in form going about their business quietly, sitting out of the top places only due to playing fewer league games. Whilst not playing league fixtures, they have been enjoying runs in both FAC and FAT.
Reds' failure to convert draws into wins since 1 September has seen our previous dominance at the top be clawed back by Runcorn and others. Injuries have been a problem as we know, but if we don't start winning more games, our goal of winning this league and gaining automatic promotion having been ripped off by the virus for two seasons, could see us having to spend another year at this level.
Other significant fixtures today: Glossop NE v Warrington Rylands (2nd) Kidsgrove v Mossley (3rd) Marine (4th) v City of Liverpool
Come on you Reds. Need three points from this one please.

Stay positive because you dont win anything in October. Frustrating yes but we have a good squad and once fit and match fit we will be in with a shout I am confident of that. But there are some decent teams in this league this season so we have no divine right to be promoted , lets just back the boys therecwill always be a few bumps along thecway but we can do it.

Had to miss the game due to self isolation, at least catching covid had one plus point!

I agree but one point out of the last nine is not championship form, we lacked any creativity today we are badly missing Brad Hubbold and what has happened to Donae Lawrence he has plenty of drive, dare and do which was lacking today.

Not great today (I'm being kind). I thought we missed a trick with persevering with the same shape for 90 minutes (well, except for Goose and Jim playing up front for a bit at the end).
Runcorn looked decent and much, much fitter than us in the second half. Our midfield couldn't get anywhere near them.
Bar the goals from wind assisted corners and their keeper making a flying save in the first half, I can't remember us creating a chance

Got beat by the better team on the day. when you look at the soft pens we have given away lately this ref turned away 2 stonewallers another day we would have got them. good to see most of the lads back from injury but they will need 2 or 3 games to get match fit. That’s the first home league defeat in about 30 months got to happen sometime

We can all look at individual players and injuries, but the worrying part of today was the lack of a system and any shape.
At times under DG we overplayed, but you could always see what we were trying to do. The 4-3-3 allowed a tight midfield 3 to control the game and dominate possession. Today Carroll (whose endeavour in fairness was outstanding) and Tinnion got overran and we never changed it.
The last few games have seen a serious drop off and some questions need to be asked. I agree that we have no right to be promoted, but at this level and with this squad, anything else is failure.

Utterly gob smacked with the performance and result yesterday, but the opposition deserved their victory - we rarely got past the half way line in the second half and we lacked creativity and inability to take on the opposition. Where was our manager yesterday as I did not see him.? If he was there why did Ruddy do the interview post match? Get back to winning ways Reds before it is too late.

Chris had to take his wife to Penrith to catch the train. He then drove back.
