Given that we were behind, it is probably one point gained, rather than two dropped v Bootle midweek. It looked a tricky game on paper. Add the described conditions, and it sounds like a difficult night for a football match. The point gained moves us up to second but still trailing marine who have games in hand.
As with the midweek fixture v an improving Bootle, we now head to City of Liverpool who have also been improving of late. Looks like another tricky fixture.
City of Liverpool are 9th with 26 points from 18 games
Reds are 2nd with 38 points from 18 games
City of Liverpool at home 3-4-2
Reds away 6-2-1
Recent City of Liverpool results:
27 Nov City of Liverpool 0-0 Kendal
20 Nov Mossley 1-2 City of Liverpool
13 Nov Kidsgrove 2-1 City of Liverpool
9 Nov City of Liverpool 3-0 Market Drayton Town
6 Nov City of Liverpool 2-0 Leek Town
23 Oct Marine 2-1 City of Liverpool
16 Oct City of Liverpool 0-0 Trafford
12 Oct City of Liverpool 0-1 1874 Northwich
9 Oct City of Liverpool 0-1 Colne (FAT2QR)
2 Oct City of Liverpool 1-6 Buxton (FAC3QR)
City of Liverpool overall since 1 Oct 3-2-5
Reds overall since 1 Oct 6-2-3
City of Liverpool have lost only one of their last five. Similar to Bootle, they are on the rise and could prove a difficult opponent.
Other significant fixtures today:
Clitheroe (5th) v Prescot
Marine (1st) v Ramsbottom
Runcorn (6th) v Glossop NE
Trafford (7th) v Leek Town (4th)
Warrington Rylands (3rd) v Newcastle
Since losing 2-1 at Marine on 24 August, Reds have won 2 and drawn 1 league matches on the road. Let's hope we can avoid or second away loss of the season and bring some points home.
Come on you Reds.
