Our 2022 got off to a great start with the 1-0 victory over Clitheroe. We now have a little bit of daylight in front of the chasers, but we still trail Marine by 4 points having played the same number of games.
Next up is a visit from mid table Glossop NE who's recent record would suggest they are better than their 14th position.
Reds are 2nd with 47 points from 21 games Glossop NE are 14th with 23 points from 22 games
Reds at home 7-3-1 Glossop NE away 2-6-3
Recent Glossop NE results: 1 Jan Glossop 1-1 Trafford 27 Dec Mossley 0-0 Glossop 18 Dec Glossop 2-0 Kendal 11 Dec Runcorn 1-1 Glossop 4 Dec Glossop 2-2 Kidsgrove 20 Nov Prescot 0-2 Glossop 13 Nov Glossop 1-1 1874 Northwich 6 Nov Bootle 1-2 Glossop
Reds overall since 1 Nov 6-1-0 Glossop overall since 1 Nov 3-5-0
Glossop's last league defeat was way back on 2 October when we enjoyed a 1-3 win at their place. This could be a trickier fixture than 14th would suggest, with Glossop being the draw specialists in the league. Their complete league record so far is 4-11-7. Aside from Trafford with 8 draws, no other team has drawn more than five. Let's hope we can keep the pressure on Marine and collect another three points.
Other significant fixtures today: Trafford v Marine (1st) Rylands (3rd) v Mossley Leek (4th) v Rams Runcorn (5th) v Kendal
Current top of the league using played and points
Marine 21 51 Reds 21 47 Rylands 21 43 Leek 22 43 Runcorn 20 42 Clitheroe 21 40
Come on you Reds

Glossop unbeaten in 10 but 7 draws and 3 wins (2 against the teams in bottom 3) and only Market Drayton have scored less goals all season. They dont concede loads though and Reds are the only team in NPLNW to score more than 2 goals against them in a match. 2 So Reds are last team to beat them and only team to score 3 against them but expecting them to be a tough nut to crack. Must win game though, Trafford a tough place to go for Marine so a chance to make up more ground on them.

Well that was a weird game, we created 3 chances ( scoring off 2 ) they done nowt, yet 6 goals were scored including 3 own goals and a pen and they had 2 sent off.

Might be just me but i thought that was the poorest match of the season, i know it had quite a few incidents in it but they were basically all that happened, taking 3 own goals, 2 sendings off, Penalty and 2 reds goals aside (That might sound like a contradiction in terms) We were poor in possession for a lot of the game and made some poor decisions going forward with little quality service, Especially when we were playing against 9 men we barely got the ball anywhere near our 3 forwards. Hubbold scored the best goal of the game and Carroll did well filling in for Goose. Didnt really get to see much of the new signing as he didnt get enough service going forward.
Forgot to add, whilst the balls into the box caused 3 own goals i thought the defending was inexplicably bad for all 3, not due to superb quality of delivery. The last own goal in particular looked so dodgy i swear that guy was match fixing, he was a yard out and belted it in.

Ash, yes we were crap but they were almost comically bad. A team doesn't score 3 own goals by "accident". No, you have to be incompetent. I actually thoroughly enjoyed the match. Particularly our fans getting a rise from their manager. And a 5 - 1 win is a 5 - 1 win.

Yeah cant argue with the result tbf really helped our Goal difference. Hopefully we can step up our performances going forward as not every team will give us three goals.

I can only guess that the Glossop players had seen the odds for the 5-1 win and decided to pile on. How else do you explain 3 own goals?
