The mighty Reds train rolls on. The 4-0 dispatching of Newcastle Town takes our goals tally to 15 in the last four league fixtures and 7 league victories on the bounce. This trip to Runcorn gives us the opportunity to exact some revenge. Runcorn are the only team from 13 combatants who have left Borough Park wit 3 points this season. That game on 23 Oct was the last time Reds were defeated in the league. That defeat also saw us lose our position at the top of the league. Back then we were replaced by Mossley. Thanks to Colne who took points of them midweek, Runcorn are now a little further adrfit of the Reds, but they do have a very strong home record. Given Reds' strong away record, this game, on paper, looks a tough one.
Runcorn are 5th with 49 points from 24 games
Reds are 1st with 59 points from 25 games
Runcorn at home 8-3-1
Reds away 9-2-1
Recent Runcorn results:
25 Jan Colne 1-1 Runcorn
22 Jan Rams 1-3 Runcorn
15 Jan City of Liverpool 2-0 Runcorn
8 Jan Runcorn 7-0 Kendal
1 Jan 1874 Northwich 1-2 Runcorn
27 Dec Runcorn 2-1 Prescot
18 Dec Widnes 3-5 Runcorn
14 Dec Marine 3-1 Runcorn
11 Dec Runcorn 1-1 Glossop NE
Runcorn overall since 1 Dec 5-2-2
Reds overall since 1 Dec 7-1-1
The stand out result above is the 2-0 defeat at City of Liverpool. Reds went there on 18 Jan and won 0-2.
Other significant fixtures today:
City of Liverpool v Marine (2nd)
Rylands (3rd) v Glossop NE
Kendal v Leek (4th)
Current top of the league using played and points
Reds 25 59
Marine 24 54
Rylands 25 52
Leek 24 49
Runcorn 24 49
Although Reds are now in charge of their own destiny again, we do still have to play Marine, Rylands and Leek in the run home, so ensuring we stay in charge is vital. Reds haven't lost away in the league since the 2-1 at Rylands on 5 October, and have in fact won the last five league games on the road. Here's hoping for yet another 3 points coming back to Borough Park.
Come on you Reds
