Another valuable three points brought home from Runcorn Linnets with a 1-2 victory. That was our 6th away win on the bounce going back to 6 Nov when we won 0-1 at Mossley. At that time Mossley were top of the league and Reds were 3rd.
Reds are 1st with 62 points from 26 games Mossley are 7th with 42 points from 26 games
Reds at home 9-3-1 Mossley away 8-0-5
Recent Mossley results: 29 Jan Mossley 3-3 Kidsgrove 22 Jan Clitheroe 3-2 Mossley 18 Jan Marine 0-3 Mossley 15 Jan Mossley 1-0 Market Drayton 8 Jan Rylands 2-1 Mossley 1 Jan Rams 1-2 Mossley 27 Dec Mossley 0-0 Glossop NE 18 Dec Bootle 3-0 Mossley 11 Dec Mossley 0-2 Colne 4 Dec 1874 Northwich 7-3 Mossley
Res overall since 1 Dec 8-1-1 Mossley overall since 1 Dec 3-2-5
After a disastrous December, Mossley's form has improved in January, including the 0-3 at Marine. They have however conceded more goals (42) than any other top ten team.
Other significant fixtures today: Marine (2nd) v Market Drayton Clitheroe v Rylands (3rd) Leek Town (4th) v City of Liverpool
Current top of the league using played and points
Reds 26 62 Marine 25 57 Rylands 26 55 Leek 25 52 Runcorn 25 49
Next up for Reds are two away games - Bootle and Rams. And we do still have to play Marine, Rylands and Leek during the run in.
Eight league wins on the bounce - let's make it nine. Come on you Reds.

High winds forecast again! Given both Mossley and us have a free sat week after and another in March hope referee checks weather forecast on Saturday and if still same applies some common sense. Dangerous and no fun for anyone playing it in a force 10 gale!

Football is a winter game. We endure and the players endure. There's no reason to call the game off at the moment.

Blowing a gale at crummock this afternoon. Forecast for saturday, heavy rain from 12 to 6, wind 30 miles per hour gusts to 49. Result, pitch is a paddy field and a low gate, crap football. if the game can be played on the following saturday makes sense to get a local ref in to call it off, providing the forecast stays the same on saturday morning.

The wind ruined it as a spectacle. We didn't create much and they will probably think 2-0 was a bit harsh on them - although I don't think they did much after their no9 went off injured.
We might not play as much nice looking football as we did under Grainger, but I think Willock has us a bit more, erm, 'street smart' and we're able to see out games like today without much fuss

First half they had most of the ball, but we created all the chances. Second half They had most of the ball, and they created most of the chances But for all their good play and possession the didnt really force Jim into any saves. We scored from the best move of the first half, dug in and defended well and took probably the only chance we created in the 2nd
So Mossley probably feel hard done by but we arent top of the league for no reason, you have to be 100% on top of your game to get something from us and they werent in the final 3rd. Awesome result as well as all top 5 dropped point apart from Marine who had their easier remaining game while we ticked off one of our harder ones. Class play for our first goal and quality finish for the 2nd.
Popular Side had damage to its roof during the game, hopefully can be sorted by next home game in 3 weeks.

Game summed up perfectly in the above posts, not brilliant to watch in those conditions but the effort, commitment and organisation was first class, all about maximum points now so well done, expecting mossley to take points off a lot of our rivals over the rest of the season
