All good things as they say....... disappointing to end the 9 game winning run at home.......with a sending off......in front of such a big crowd. I was hoping those type of days were over, but I guess it is a reminder that being a Reds supporter comes with these issues as par for the course.
Perhaps the 21 day gap between games didn't help? As unfathomable as it may, having played only 2 matches in February, and heading in to the remaining games of the season, we now go another 10 days without a fixture. Our next outing is the rearranged trip to Bootle on 8 March. As mentioned in a previous post, all matches on Sat 5 March seem to be rearranged, suggesting that this date was always blank? Happy for someone to tell us more about that.
There are a couple of midweek fixtures that don't affect us, but some of the matches on 5 March are important.
Kendal v Rylands (1st)
Leek (4th) v Rams
Current top of table using played, points and goal difference:
Rylands 30 65 +43
Reds 28 65 +36
Marine 29 65 +25
Leek 29 62 +31
It would be fair to think that both Rylands and Leek will win their games. If that happens, Rylands will be three points clear, and Leek will join us and Marine on 65 points. Our advantage of course is games in hand. But we know all too well that games in hand don't necessarily equate to 3 points each.
Our run in sees visits to Leek and Marine, as well as hosting Rylands at Borough Park. It is looking like a very tight finish now, and we will all be too well aware that we don't usually come out favourably in play offs.
Here's hoping the loss to Widnes was a one off and not the start of an end of season wobble. Come on Kendal and Rams.
