Phew. A last minute goal at Ramsbottom brought us three points, despite reports that we didn't play too well again. Isn't it a mark of a good team to be able to collect points at the end of the season despite not playing well? Fine by me if so. A slip by Marine is also welcomed. Hopefully our slip of a loss and a draw is now behind us and we are building a run of victories again. Still in charge of our destiny is a good place to be with 7 games to go.
And so on to Prescot who defeated Kendal with a last minute goal at the weekend and sent them down.
Prescot are 18th with 32 points from 33 games
Reds are 2nd with 72 points from 31 games
Prescot at home 7-1-8
Reds away 11-3-1
Recent Prescot results:
19 Mar Prescot 1-0 Kendal
12 Mar Rams 1-0 Prescot
5 Mar Colne 0-2 Prescot
26 Feb Prescot 0-1 Leek
19 Feb Widnes 2-1 Prescot
8 Feb Mossley 4-1 Prescot
5 Feb Prescot 2-1 Newcastle Town
Prescot overall since 1 Feb 3-0-4
Reds overall since 1 Feb 3-1-1
Although they are lowly 18th, Prescot have won 4 of their last 6 home games. Their overall record since 1 Jan reads 6-0-5. As such, this may not be as easy usually expected against a team languishing one place above relegation.
Current top of the league using played and points
Rylands 33 74 +53
Reds 31 72 +38
Marine 32 71 +26
Leek 32 66 +31
The top four are all playing away today:
Rams v Rylands (1st)
Mossley v Marine (3rd)
Colne v Leek (4th)
A tricky trip for Rylands given the reports of our visit to Rams midweek. Marine also with a tricky trip to Mossley (8th). Leek have what should be not quite as tough a trip.
I see this match as the first of our next five that will determine our fate. Come on you Reds. Another victory please.
