Dave Dempster (ex Widnes & Clitheroe manager in npl west) has been appointed at Prescot Cables. At least 7 players have said they are leaving due to budget cuts.

Shame another one lost to them! We are in direct opposition with Annan for decent local players and most lads see them as a better option atm which is disappointing!
We need to build this club on and off the field increase all our income streams so they may see us as a better opportunity going forward. We do get better attendances than them but we can't just sit back and rely on that matchday income!

Disappointing yes but would he have been an automatic choice at BP. Bearing in mind he had played at Annan for two seasons previously that may have been a factor. In addition playing in Scottish One he may feel the chances to better himself may be more likely with Scouts. The fact it is only a one year contract makes one wonder are they convinced or will he be a squad player there too

Scottish league 1 is classed as pro football even with part time clubs, the exposure is better than the NPL unfortunately. Sooner club get back to the National League North recruitment would be easier

Annan probably is a more attractive proposition at the moment sadly.

I think we have to admit that at the moment Scottish league 1 is more appealing to players than NPL. Our facilities are poor too which won't help. The only way to entice a player Annan want is money or more playing time. But as mentioned Annan get significant funding from the SPFL so can probably compete better than we might think.
