Oh dear. Not exactly the start we were chasing. Failure to score. Failure to win, and ultimately failure to draw due to conceding a late goal. The reports on here suggest we were not really a team, just a collection of individuals. We knew we were already up against it with Macclesfield being full time. They are off to a flyer along with seven other teams claiming three points on the opening day.

Prescot Cables however, were not amongst the opening winners. They also failed to score, but did come away from Northwich with a point.

Last season:
Prescot finished 18th with 39 points
Reds finished 2nd with 84 points

27 Nov Reds 1-0 Prescot
26 March Prescot 0-0 Reds

Last season Reds lost only 2 games at home and 2 games away.

This season
Prescot are 12th with 1 point from 1 game
Reds are 15th with 0 points from 1 game

Let's hope Reds can continue with last season's form against Prescot and stop them from scoring again. Next Saturday we begin our FAC campaign so it would be a welcome 3 points get our league season up and running before the FAC distraction.

As much as the result it is about how they play, the need to press, impose and keep possession. Then the key requirement Concentration for the whole game.

I know we have new players and a new style of play to adapt to but how many points start are we giving our rivals?
Pretty mediocre Prescot team, minimal quality but put a proper shift in to their credit although their play acting and time wasting was embarrassing.
This possession football is great with an end result. There is no end result though if you don’t get the ball in the danger area!!!!! Lack of pace a little concerning in areas.
Trust in Danny but tonight not at the level to be challenging being brutally honest. Room for improvement….

I agree it's frustrating to create so little, and we need to work out when to be a little more direct or faster getting it forward. When teams are happy to take a point or if they sneak a lead I do feel that we don't have many ideas.

On the positive side if Reilys pen goes in and Jim doesn't make a mistake we could be on 4 points so hopefully we aren't too far away. All ifs and buts of course and we do still need to improve and quickly.
Playoffs are the most likely chance of us going up I would say so better to tweak things now,get it right and hit the playoffs in top form.
