After some impressive attendances in the back half of last season we started with 702 which although the club will be disappointed it was still higher than most in the league above and any in our division bar the Macclesfield factor. The club has worked hard to lift the crowd average in the last couple of seasons but apart from a winning team and a new stadium is there anything else the club could try? I wondered whether the soon ending of the rugby league season at both town and haven a few live sport enthusiasts or even sponsors would give the reds a go.

Think some people are still pissed off with how last season ended. If we had been promoted the feel good factor would still be there and we could have had a 4 figure gate last saturday. As you say its a winning team that will draw support.

Carlisle at home who have a bit of a buzz about them at the minute won't have helped. The very hot weather may have put a few off or even made some make other plans. It's also a bad time for people being away on holidays, festivals, BBQs etc etc. 700 with all that in mind is pretty decent. In terms of adding more people I think it's just a case of winning, much better performances than Saturday and as much publicity as possible. A Paul Stewart style signing would also work but highly unlikely to happen although Cristiano is looking for a new club. He might add a few. The club really should consider attempting something for the World cup. I know it's a winter one this year so more difficult but Town must have made a fortune with the events they had on for the England games. Easily a few hundred there every game all spending a lot on drink.
