Oh dear. I was on the Live Scoreboard when we went ahead at Witton, and was falsely lulled into a feeling of we are well on track. Unfortunately, conceding three goals resulted in our second defeat of the season. Without wanting to be the prophet of gloom and doom and despondency, that's now half as many games as we lost in whole of last season. And that wasn't good enough to win the league. Given the quality of some teams in this league this season, we need to get ourselves into winning ways sooner rather than later.
And so with only one day off, we move on to our next encounter, and host Clitheroe at Borough Park for the Bank Holiday fixture. After three wins on the bounce, Clitheroe will also be smarting from a disappointing result at home to 1874 Northwich on Saturday. It goes without saying that anything less than three points could, even at this early stage, mean we may have to settle for a play off place at best. And we know all too well what usually happens there.
Regardless, we are at home and should be winning these games if we want to compete at a higher level. For how long, and how badly will that final day at Market Drayton Town haunt us?
Reds are 15th with 4 points from 4 games Clitheroe are 6th with 6 points from 4 games
Reds at home 1-0-1 Clitheroe away 1-0-1
Recent Clitheroe results: 27 Aug Clitheroe 1-3 1874 Northwich 23 Aug Skelmersdale 0-1 Clitheroe 20 Aug Clitheroe 2-0 Colne (FACPR) 16 Aug Clitheroe 2-0 Ramsbotton 13 Aug Macclesfield 3-0 Clitheroe
Clitheroe have what seems a friendly draw in FAC1QR, hosting Heaton Stannington next weekend. That whilst we will be taking on South Shields away.
Last season Clitheroe finished 6th with 71 points missing the play offs by 3 points. Their away record was 8-6-5. The match at Borough Park was on New Year's Day with a 1-0 victory to Reds. The reverse fixture was on 30 Aug with Reds also victorious 0-2.
Hopefully the crowd will be swelled by Bank Holiday supporters and they can help the team to a needed win. Come on you Reds.

Truly awful performance. No shape or desire,Clitheroe quicker to the ball all over the pitch its looking like a long season ahead. Danny needs to stop chopping & changing & play what he thinks is his best 11. Only Eccles & Goose can come away from today with any credit. Give Rigg a chance at 9 because i'm afraid Reilly offered nothing

First home game of the season. So disappointing. Add to my away visits - progress made nil…. Not often I come away from a reds defeat feeling we didn’t deserve something from the game. Today we deserved nothing… Only looked dangerous when we got desperate in the last few minutes and starting lumping it. I really hope this is just a short turn blip and we can turn it round. Not even a mid table side based on what I’ve seen to date being brutally honest….feel for the fans turning up in numbers, reflects the progress made by the club. Can’t lose the momentum now.

Should be no suprise how we have started this season as it is pretty much how we also ended the season. They blew promotion last season and I honestly think that was our one chance to get out of this league. All Momentum could soon be lost as the crowds will quickly drop especially when the cold wet days come and once they have gone it takes a lot of winning them back.

And to think - I nearly bought a season ticket again. Depressing to watch, but at least we got what we deserved.

Was thinking similar to this ,we seem to have been in a rut since February was really hopeful that the return of Danny would be the spark but at the minute we are off the pace in a competitive league. Hopefully pressure off on Saturday we can begin to find the right formula, we also need the supporters to rally around the club the live scoreboard was a dismal read today I feel there are a lot out there are happy to see us fail

Too many passengers and we can't play 3 at the back leaving big spaces down our right side of the pitch. Only a matter of time before they took advantage of the room we gave them. Missing the 2 brads in mid field and some of the new faces are not good enough. Got to play 433 or 442. I would go with, atkinson or eccles, clarke wordsworth smith birch, rigg or mahone casson tinnion, symington jerome rigg or palmer.

That was woeful. No pattern, no structure, no ball control, no pressing, no pace, no movement. 11 strangers running around like headless chickens, just booting the ball like schoolkids. Reds wouldn't have scored if they had played another hour!!! Lot of hard work required by Grainger and the players to get something from this season.

To be fair to Danny he has inherited most of last season's squad, on the other side of the coin he knows most of these players and should realise the star players of 2 or 3 seasons ago are no longer performing at this (relative low) level. As consistently said on the live scoreboard the 2 Brad's have not been replaced in midfield. Looks like a rebuilding job and can't think of anyone better than Danny to do the job.

Listening to Dannys interview following the game I dont think his views differ greatly from the fans including the majority on Live scoreboard. Frustration yes hang over still from Market Drayton definitely. Confidence in football is essential and I do wonder if Steve Rudd in the background is also being missed. There is a lot of hard work to do and whilst challenging Macclesfield may prove a step too far , all is still to play for; just take it one game at a time. How far is Hughes away from being fit?

All Momentum could soon be lost as the crowds will quickly drop especially when the cold wet days come and once they have gone it takes a lot of winning them back. Whatever folk made of Willock we were solid at the back right till the end…best defence in the league, can’t argue with that, clinical ball final 3rd the issue. Now it’s the entire pitch! I think they call it a transition period in football. Loyal quality servants at this club prefer not to name names, current contributions not what we’ve been blessed with in the past. Too many injuries and too many games rather than age…continued to give it their all through thick and thin when the reality was a spell on the sidelines was probably needed. Credit too em and hope they keep going in tough times and can recapture what we know they have… Positive is good players sidelined, who will add quality and we still have players not yet match fit because of injury. One quality addition in midfield may make all the difference. Danny knows what’s required. Issue is a lack of local talent for me…vast pool of quality players down here in Manchester, signing for very average clubs. Outpost Workington the issue..still believe we are a conference north club given the future potential, backed up by decent gates. fulfilling that is so difficult….was thinking initially the current lads just needed game time, lack of progress worrying…
