For a while there, I thought my wish for one of those FAC shock results was actually going to happen. Then I was disappointed that we conceded a late equaliser..........and then I would have settled for the draw after we conceded again. I couldn't quite work out what was happening, but gather that South Shields were playing some dodgy tactics?
Regardless, our interest in another FAC season has concluded early and we get straight back to league affairs with a midweek trip to Ramsbottom.
Rams are 15th with 5 points from 5 games
Reds are 17th with 4 points from 5 games
Rams at home 1-0-1
Reds away 0-1-1
Recent Rams results:
3 Sept 1874 Northwich 1-1 Rams
29 Aug Rams 3-1 Mossley
27 Aug Leek 1-1 Rams
24 Aug City of Liverpool 4-3 Rams (FACPRr)
20 Aug Rams 0-0 City of Liverpool (FACPR)
16 Aug Clitheroe 2-0 Rams
13 Aug Rams 1-3 Hanley
9 Aug Rams 2-0 Thackley (FACEPRr)
6 Aug Thackley 1-1 Rams (FACEPR)
Rams overall this season 2-4-3
Reds overall this season 2-1-4
In previous campaigns, this fixture has been played with both teams at the top end of the table. Not the case this time. Although Rams had a great result v Mossley, this is their only league win so far. Reds also have only one league win so far.
Last season
22 March Rams 0-1 Reds
14 Sept Reds 1-0 Rams
Reports suggest that Reds played very well at South Shields. Maybe a sign that things are finally coming together. It was always going to be a hard ask to get a win over there, but hopefully the spirit generated can now kick start our league campaign. A win here would be most welcome.
Come on your Reds
PS - can anybody tell me why there is a bold line either side of 17th and 18th in the table? www.thenpl.co.uk/match-info/tables?table_id=d-5198603 Some kind of play off for teams ending the season in these positions?
