Our improved results of late now see us in 3rd. A much improved position, given our stumbling start to the season. As a consequence, this clash with Leek is now a top of the table six pointer. Having said that, both clubs trail Macclesfield by 5 points and have played a game more.
Reds are 3rd with 13 points from 8 games Leek are 2nd with 13 points from 8 games
Reds at home 2-0-2 Leek away 2-2-0
Recent Leek results: 24 Sept Coleshill Town 4-4 Leek (FAT2QR) (2-3 pens) 20 Sept Leek 4-1 Prescot Cables 6 Sept Leek 1-1 Kidsgrove 3 Sept Mossley 0-2 Leek 29 Aug 1874 Northwich 0-0 Leek 27 Aug Leek 1-1 Rams 23 Aug Glossop NE 1-1 Leek 20 Aug Leek 1-5 Atherstone (FACPR) 16 Aug Leek 1-3 Macclesfield 13 Aug Bootle 0-4 Leek
Reds overall 5-1-5 Leek overall 3-5-2
Undefeated away in the league, their win on penalties in FAT means Leek are yet to be defeated on their travels. Reds are now 3 league wins on the bounce so this looks like having the makings of a big game.
The table is still congested with 2nd and 12th are only separated by 3 points. Here's hoping we can continue our winning streak. Come on you Reds.

Another cracking game at BP with the woodwork (x3) an inept referee and a few great saves robbing us of a victory. Great performances all over the pitch once more. Dav deserved his MoM but Birch would have ran him close with a great performance. Some of our quick passing moves are a pleasure to watch. Doing justice to the great playing surface at BP. Leek are a good side, and will be up there at the business end of the season. They rode their luck today though.

Very good performance against a more than decent side.
We should have been out of sight - battered the woodwork, their keeper made a couple of cracking saves and the ref turned down two absolute stonewall penalties. There was a loud crack of foot on foot contact from the first one-
A bit frustrating that we didn't get all 3 points, but it's encouraging that we're not only playing Grainger's style of football, but we're also starting to mix it up and stretch the game more. We look 100x fitter than we did at any point last season too.
Play like that and we'll be up there at the end of the season.

About 9m 50s for Goose getting his feet swiped from under him, if anyone's looking for it (not that I'm still bitter!)

Two of the most blatant penalties both on Dan by the same Leek player. The Ref said his view was obstructed. Agree because he had his head up his arse!

If you watch the video his view doesn't look obstructed by any players on the goose pen. I don't think Danny mentioned Hughes when talking about the injured lads. Is there any news there ? Is he far off? Is he still a reds player ? Looked a great player pre season and linked with Reilly very well.

Agreed, and as the Plasky video clearly shows, the ref was relatively close to the action and had a clear view. But not only that, he was waving his arms, in that 'no its not a foul, carry on' way, even before Goose hit the ground. We may not be able to complain about the decision, but maybe someone should consider reporting the ref, for his appalling after match comments, if they are as reported.
Re the match, I thought it was our best home performance by some distance. Some of the passing moves were a pleasure to watch. We are also on the front foot a lot more, and are creating more chances than at the start of the season (and the end of last season). There were also fewer scary moments at the back.
I was a little concerned at after the first couple of games, but we seem to be improving as the season progresses. If we continue as we did on Saturday, there's no reason to think that we can't be in the mix at the end of the season.
