With the weather getting in the way of the midweek CCC fixture, this will be Reds' first home fixture since the 29 Oct draw with City of Liverpool. Widnes will arrive with the same away record as City of Liverpool did.
Reds are 4th with 24 points from 14 games Widnes are 19th with 12 points from 13 games
Reds at home 3-2-2 Widnes away 1-0-5
Recent Widnes results: 5 Nov Widnes 3-0 Ramsbottom 2 Nov Widnes 0-0 Clitheroe 22 Oct Widnes 2-1 Trafford 18 Oct City of Liverpool 4-0 Widnes 15 Oct Widnes 2-3 Witton Albion 8 Oct Hanley 0-2 Widnes 1 Oct Mossley 4-1 Widnes
Reds overall since 1 Sept 5-2-3 Widnes overall since 1 Sept 3-2-6
Despite their lowly position, Widnes are now undefeated in their last three matches. They have only conceded one goal during that time. However, those three games were all at home. Their previous away trip was the 4-0 loss at City of Liverpool.
Six points separate 2nd to 10th. Other top of the table fixtures today:
Leek (2nd) v Clitheroe (8th) Bootle v Mossley(3rd) Runcorn (5th v Kidsgrove Trafford (6th) v Macclesfield (1st)
We failed to trouble the scorer when struggling City of Liverpool visited recently. Let's hope we can make up for that - and more - against struggling Widnes. Come on you Reds.

That was the worst performance since the last home game which in turn was the worst one since the game before and yet we won. Incredible.

I disagree that this was a poor performance. To be fair it was not the best of the Reds but we played well in the second half and their goalie made some good saves. It was a thrilling end to the game with 2 excellent goals and we most certainly deserved to win today after Widnes' time wasting tactics and poor game man ship. We would have had a better gate had it not been for poxy Carlisle being at home. So well done to all the Red's players for never giving up: they well deserved their victory!! I would like to see Jordan Palmer in the starting eleven.

Not only did they go 1 up, they hit the post and had at least two other great chances. We were crap for most of the game, completely without a cutting edge. But the footballing gods smiled on us!

Awful first 45, bang average second 45, absolutely incredible extra 6 minutes.
We had plenty of the ball and Widnes didn't create much (I think their only real chances came from us overplaying), we were just a bit slow and ponderous. Tinnion made a difference when he came on.
Anyway, we beat a shithousing, time wasting team with two injury time goals in front of the Town End. It was well worth putting up with the previous 90mins for!

I would say that we have only played well at home once this season v Leek town. Our build up play is so slow and usually ends up with us passing to the other team. We need to get a midfield together that can support the forwards and create some chances. We are badly missing the 2 brads and we could do with a creative central midfielder asap. Scotty needs to play up front with Jerome.

Well you would have done if you had not been a bunch of cheating time wasting foul mouth gits. Spent more time feigning injury and rolling around on the pitch. Your personal performance was embarrassing, agreed by one of your players, said you were nuts!

When requested to tone down your foul language because there were children around; your reply was Well F*** off elsewhere if you don't like it, and more of the same later. Tosser!!

Widnes' game plan worked very well for 90 minutes. Let's hope they have a similar game plan for Tuesday night at Leek, and can take a point or three . . .

Watching the various 'highlights' shows that Lewis Reilly was involved in anything good that happened. He must have set up 3 or 4 good chances that weren't taken as well as a nice flick on for the winner.
