With midweek football off again due to the weather, Reds move on from the late, late winner v Widnes to the next league fixture. This time a trip to Skem who are down in 14th position, but only 9 points worse off. Reds defeated Skem 2-1 at Borough Park on 24 Sept. This fixture has been brought forward from 21 January.
Skem are 14th with 18 points from 15 games
Reds are 3rd with 27 points from 15 games
Skem at home 2-0-6
Reds away 4-1-2
Recent Skem results:
12 Nov Skem 0-1 Witton Albion
5 Nov Macclesfield 1-0 Skem
29 Nov Skem 1-0 Mossley
22 Nov Colne 1-2 Skem
15 Oct Rams 3-5 Skem
8 Oct Skem 1-3 Newcastle
1 Oct 1874 Northwich 2-1 Skem
Skem overall since 1 Sept 3-1-7
Reds overall since 1 Sept 6-2-3
After collecting only 1 point from 12 in September, Skem started October with another 2 defeats but then put a trio of victories together, including the 1-0 win over Mossley. Skem's only other victory at home this season was on 29 Aug claiming a winner in injury time 3-2 v Prescot Cables. They have only scored once in the last three outings.
Other matches of interest today:
Macclesfield (1st) v Mossley (5th)
Leek (2nd) in FAT2R
Runcorn (4th) FAT2R
Regardless of today's outcome, Reds will remain in 3rd position but potentially could open up some breathing space over Runcorn (FAT2R) and Mossley should they lose at Macclesfield. The table is beginning to open up a little. Reds are currently 6 points clear of 6th place 1874 Northwich.
The two late goals v Widnes join the list of late goals that have happened this season. Here's hoping we can have three points in the bag a bit earlier in this fixture. Come on you Reds,
