On the final day of the league last season, Bootle's fan base was swelled by the full contingent of Reds' fans. We needed a favour from them in their match at Warrington Rylands. A draw would have all but guaranteed that Reds won the league. All we had to was win at Market Drayton. Bootle did their best for us. At one point they were winning at Rylands. The match finished in a draw. That was what we asked of them.....the rest, as they say....is history.
8 months on, we welcome them to Borough Park, looking to send them packing with 0 points.......it's a strange world sometimes....
Reds are 3rd with 36 points from 18 games
Bootle are 9th with 25 points from 18 games
Reds at home 5-2-2
Bootle away 3-3-2
Recent Bootle results:
3 Dec Bootle 2-0 1874 Northwich
26 Nov Bootle 2-1 Skem
19 Nov Glossop NE 0-3 Bootle
12 Nov Bootle 1-1 Mossley
5 Nov Colne 1-1 Bootle
29 Oct Bootle 1-4 Hanley
22 Oct Kidsgrove 2-1 Bootle
15 Oct Newcastle Town 1-0 Bootle
11 Oct Bootle 0-4 Clitheroe
8 Oct Bootle 1-2 Rams
1 Oct Macclesfield 1-2 Bootle
Reds overall since 1 Oct 8-1-2
Bootle overall since 1 Oct 4-2-5
Those results show a bigger swing than Ben Stokes. A terrific victory at Macclesfield was followed by 5 losses, and no wins in 7. After that torrid run, Bootle have since won 3 on the bounce. Reds have won their last six outings.
Other top of the table fixtures today:
Prescot v Leek (3rd)
Runcorn (4th) v Newcastle Town
Clitheroe (5th) v Widnes
Kidsgrove (6th) v Trafford
Mossley (7th) v Witton
7th placed Mossley are 4 points in front of 8th Prescot. There are currently 8 points between 2nd and 7th. All play off contenders are in with a shout of winning today. Any slip ups could prove costly.
Come on you Reds
