Happy New Year to one and all Reds people.
Enjoyed reading the Review of the year on the Reds app. The end of 2022 has seen Reds' go on a good run of seven wins on the bounce. Had it not been for three postponements, who knows, that could be more. As it is, we find ourselves heading in to 2023 with a 9 point cushion in the play offs. Yes, we all know about play offs, but at least we have a chance if we are in them. Not being involved, would be dreadful - unless it was because we won the league of course. After sending Kidsgrove back down the M6 with nothing to show for their trip, we now head out on the road ourselves to Clitheroe.
Clitheroe are 6th with 30 points from 19 games
Reds are 3rd with 39 points from 19 games
Clitheroe at home 5-0-3
Reds away 6-1-2
Recent Clitheroe results:
26 Dec Colne 2-1 Clitheroe
3 Dec Witton Albion 1-1 Clitheroe
30 Nov Clitheroe 4-3 Hanley
26 Nov Clitheroe 3-2 Glossop NE
22 Nov Clitheroe 3-2 City of Liverpool
19 Nov Kidsgrove 2-1 Clitheroe
12 Nov Leek 3-2 Clitheroe
5 Nov Clitheroe 0-1 Runcorn
2 Nov Widnes 0-0 Clitheroe
Clitheroe overall since 1 Nov 3-2-4
Reds overall since 1 Nov 7-0-1
After 4 without loss, Clitheroe lost at Colne on Boxing Day which saw them drop out of the top five. They sit just outside the play offs and will be keen scramble their way back in.
Other top of the table fixtures today:
Leek (2nd) v 1874 Northwich
Witton Albion v Runcorn (4th)
Mossley (5th) v Rams
Having lost three games at home already, this is the joint most of the top eleven teams bar Bootle who have lost five. They have however won their last three home fixtures, all by the odd goal since they were defeated by Runcorn on 5 Nov.
Here's hoping we can keep the pressure on, consolidate our play off position further and come back with an 8th consecutive victory to start the new year.
Come on you Reds
