Undefeated in 2023. A tough trip to Clitheroe ended in a 1-1 draw. Whilst that put an end to Reds' run of 7 wins on the bounce, it does now make it 8 without defeat. Not a bad record to start the new year with. Our first home game for 2023 sees a visit from Prescot Cables.
Reds are 3rd with 40 points from 20 games
Prescot are 10th with 28 points from 20 games
Reds at home 6-2-2
Prescot away 4-1-6
Recent Prescot results:
2 Jan Prescot 2-1 Skem
26 Dec Bootle 3-1 Prescot
3 Dec Trafford 1-2 Prescot
26 Nov Prescot 1-2 Macclesfield
19 Nov Hanley 0-1 Prescot
11 Nov Prescot 1-1 City of Liverpool
5 Nov Kidsgrove 2-0 Prescot
Reds overall since 1 Nov 7-1-1
Prescot overall since 1 Nov 3-1-3
Both teams suffered multiple postponements in December, and as such this match is only the fourth since 1st Dec for both. Although they were defeated at Bootle on Boxing Day, Prescot did win their previous two away games. Prescot have however, lost as many games on the road (six) as any team in the league, bar City of Liverpool (seven) and Widnes (nine).
The current play off contenders are quietly settling in with Clitheroe and Kidsgrove sitting 4 points adrift in 6th and 7th. However, today sees the other 4 teams in the top five playing each other, which inevitably means some will drop points. As such, I have included Clitheroe and Kidsgrove below as they could close the gap.
Other top of the table fixtures today:
Macclesfield (1st) v Leek (2nd)
Runcorn (4th) v Mossley (5th)
Rams v Clitheroe (6th)
1874 Northwich v Kidsgrove (7th)
Let's get Borough Park 2023 off to a win and three valuable points. Come on you Reds.
